I bought two copies of Europe 1940 1st Editon as well as two copies of Pacific 1940 1st Edition just for the extra pieces……I also have Europe & Pacific 2nd Editions…I also have every Axis&Allies game and was lucky to get a copy of Anniversary Edition…I never have the problem of running out of pieces and I use fishing tackle storage trays to keep my units in. I would like another copy of Global 1940.2 for some more of the newer units…read somewhere that Larry Harris is now working on another Global WW2 game…so I’m hoping for maybe some new French units…maybe some new Canadian units as well…always looking to add to my collection

RE: Italy Strategy
The trouble with Italy is an experienced player will usually push hard and crush Italy……they are the weak underbelly of the Aixs in Europe…that being said…Germany can support Italy maybe build some ships in the Med and send some air power that way…if not Italy doesn’t last very long

RE: Alternate Setups: Classic, AAE, AAP, D-Day, AAA, Bulge, 42.2, Global, WWI 1914
Yes……a Global 1939 setup would be awesome

RE: A 1939 setup for Global 1940
Yes the Global 39 is a better game……I have the 4x8 map…takes some time setting up and each game turn takes forever…especially Germany t1… Would really like a 39 setup for the Global 1940 board

RE: Preparing the Sleeping Dragon. US1-3 2nd Edition
in a recent game of Europe 1940.2 my purchases for the US turns 1-3 were airpower and a mix of subs and transports along with troops. Airpower was used to clear out the Med and now my sub fleet is attacking German and Italian convoys. The Britts were buying airpower and airbases for Malta and Gibraltar which i believe are crucial to controlling the Med.

RE: Preparing the Sleeping Dragon. US1-3 2nd Edition
you cant go wrong with airpower and some subs to starve Italy

RE: Just How Old Are We Axis and Allies Players?
i even played in Baghdad Iraq during Op. Iraqi Freedom(Anniversary Edition) 56th Stryker Bgde attached to the Big Red One(2008-2009)

RE: Sea Lion - How would you do it?
ofcourse having those transports in the Baltic makes for a great way to dump troops into Lenningrad if you opt for Barbarossa instead. Make sure you protect those transports near airbases that way you can scramble as well. I like to have 5 transports just outside of Lenningrad and 5 in SZ 113. That gives you 10 new units to drop into Lenningrad plus what you build there.

RE: Japan T-1 purchase
to answer why im not attacking the US fleet off Hawaii……just too much risk at this point and have more die points in range of the Carolines…im waithing for him to move away from Hawaii where id have more die points and more ships in range…besides its the start of T-4 and i have China completely out of the game and gonna start harrassing the USSR. If he moves to the Carolines i will strike and if i win that battle convincingly the war could be over.

RE: Which rules to use?
Russia gets +3 ipcs for each German, Italian or Pro Axis territory….ie Finland, Bulgaria,Iraq are pro Axis

Technology for Germany?
I have been contimplating going for Tech Chart #1 on G T-1……I think Advanced Artillery or Improved Mech Infantry would make a huge difference. I usually never go for it but thinking why not give it a shot. Has anyone tried this?

RE: Japan T-1 purchase
In our game the US is spending everything in the Pacific but hasn’t moved from the sea zone off Hawaii due to my positioning of ships and planes in the Carolines and sea zone 6. Most of my airpower is in the Carolines along with 3 carriers fully equipped with fighters and various other ships and i have ships poised off the Philippines ready to counterattack.

RE: Which rules to use?
i would go with the Global 1940 2nd Edition rules(alpha+3)

Japan T-1 purchase
in a recent game i tried the 2 minor industrial complexes for Shantung and Kiangsu which seemed to really work well for me. It allowed me to have lots of infantry and artillery in China along with some airpower. I have China completly knocked out of the game and Japan making $65. Seems like a good purchase and now im thinking of pushing into Russia through Sikang. What do you guys think?

RE: Half price air and naval bases
my buddy has been playing as the Allies in recent games. He starts off buy purchasing one for Gibraltar and later on for Egypt. To me it seems like a good strategy because he tends to go heavy on airpower and that makes Gibraltar very hard to take. I also have put one in Romania plus a carrier to protect my transports and thats working very well. Ill be pushing towards the Middle East in a turn or two. It doesnt seem to unbalance the game aloy but we were thinking 8ipcs is a better buy.

Half price air and naval bases
in recent games we have determined that these are very important in the game and 15ipcs seemed a little steep to us. So we came up with half price (8ipc) air and naval bases. It seems to be working well in our games and a better buy at 8ipcs. What do you guys think? Good idea or bad? Should we go back to normal price?
