Looks like Panzerschiffe.com & GHQ have some great tanks and naval units but where can I buy fighters & bombers with the 1/700 scale?

RE: Painted playing pieces
These painted metal pieces all look so good. Can someone tell me where to buy the metal pieces? There are so many oversized pieces and I want to only get the pieces that are axis and allies sized. It’s very confusing because no website tells how big the pieces actually are. Everything is a fraction and each piece uses a different scale. What are the correct ratio scales for each unit? I’d like to start with fighters bombers and aircraft carriers.

Turn 1 Allied Strategy
There has been a lot of posts on this site about how slanted this game is for the axis and the bid keeps going up and up. I think the mistake that people are making is that they are attempting to go with a 100% kill Germany strategy. This kill Germany approach works in most Axis & Allies games but not in 1941. The allies need to control Japans economy as much as possible.
Russia 1: Attack West Russia with 3 inf from Karelia, 2 inf from Arch Angel and 1 inf from Moscow vs. the 3 Germany inf in W. Russia. This allows you the flexibility to retreat into Moscow.
Attack Manchuria with 3 inf and the fighter. Land the fighter and move both tanks and an infantry in N. China. Build 2 inf.
UK 1: Attack German fleet with your destroyer in Canada and your air force. Attack the Japanese sub and destroyer with your sub destroyer and fighter. Riskier is to build a carrier in Australia land the fighter on it and put the sub and destroyer in Austria. Move the two UK transports to two different seazones (not in Australia). Not sure if the carrier idea is viable but it creates another target for Japan turn1.
USA1: Build 2 destroyers in E. USA. Consolidate the USA fleet in Alaska if Japan went south. This may not seem like much but it forces Japan to keep some fleet in Japan Seazone. I like to build a 4th fighter and second carrier for the Pacific within the first five turns. When you move the USA fleet to Alaska bring troops with you and look for opportunities to move troops from Alaska to Soviet Far East. Build units as needed in the Atlantic. Shuttle troops into Finland every turn once your Pacific & Atlantic fleets are in place. -

RE: Elgin IL: looking for a live local A&A game
Hello axis_roll,
Yes, we used to play classic on-line back at the turn of the century in the old Microsoft Game Zone days. I even played a few games with you on your custom table at your home in Homer Glen. I got away from A&A for the last 10 years and I come back to find a lot of axis and allies products were released. Many of these products have the same name as other A&A games. I’ve played global40 which is great but way too long. 1941 second edition way too simplistic but OK if you only have 2-3 hrs to play. 1942 second edition seems better than revised but I’ve never played. Anniversary Edition seems to be the best A&A game ever made. I’d definetly like to play with your A&A group sometime if you have room for another player sometime. I’d be interested to see what your house rules are. I’ve been working on designing an A&A game with a friend of mine that has the best parts of Anniversary, 41, 42, & global. I just installed tripleA and I’m trying to get a feel for Pact of Steel. -
Elgin IL: looking for a live local A&A game
I live in Elgin area (Carpentersville). I’ve played most versions of A&A. I started playing Classic back in the 80’s. I’m looking for a good local game. If you are looking for a short game, I have 1941 second edition which can be played in 2-4 hours. I’d play 1941 any day of the week. This game favors axis so we give allies bid of (destroyer E USA, 2 inf In Moscow. 1 inf in N. China.) I like Longer games like 1942, anniversary, global, revised too. I’d need to play those on weekend. Let me know if you are looking for a live local A&A game.
