Now if on the same turn your landing troops can the interceptors defend against the land after the SBR? If the airbase is damaged above 3 can defending planes still scramble on the same turn as the SBR (against the airbase)?

SBR Question
With alpha2 SBR rules when attacking multiple targets in the same square (1 srtat bomb on factory, 2 tacs on airbase, 3 escorts) do you have to assig escorts for each separate attack and interceptors for each or do the interceptors fire at the entire attacking airforce?

RE: Sz106 and EUS
Well on the map it looks like EUS touches sz106 via st Laurence But it’s a little ambiguous

AAE40 and AAG40
I dont know if it already in the works, but we need a seperate thread for AAG40, most of the AAG info is being posted in the AAE40. Im under the understanding that the setup and the NOs are different and this might confuse people. Does anyone know the differences between the setups.

RE: New Hebrides
I have tried it. If japan is doing a 2nd turn attack they can take this little island and on second turn land aircraft there and build an airbase on second turn……It’s good for keeping anzac in check. Hard to keep a hold of being so far away and in between Anazc and US.

RE: How to balance a round 1 Japanese Declaration of War
I don’t think that it is necessarily a J1 that throws the game, but a turn 3 India that makes the game unbalanced.
If your getting $20 bid and still loosing, you have a big problem. What are you buying? If UK just bought 4 INF 2 ART and placed it in Hong Kong That would cause Jap a whole lot of problems. Or 1 Crusier + 1 Destroyer with their BB and Tranys. With a bid that large Japan should loose everytime.
I have played with a number of combinations. What you propose won’t save India. Hong Kong can be overwhelmed with how many planes? As for your fleet, 4 bmb and 1 fht will still take it out. Nothing changes. The bid needs to be higher. Maybe $24
hey jim,
are you getting the 20ipc after a j1 attack or is this a bid at game start?
are you playing that you can place the 20ipc in units? if so are there any restrictions?what we do right now is bid for sides and place units pregame. we have no restrictions on how many units can be placed in any one territory, except that the territory must already have a unit of the same power.
what i would like to do is keep bidding to determine sides, however we are having problems balancing a j1 to a j2 dow. i think my idea number 2 is best right now but am hoping for some critiquing or new ideas. right now our bids are between 17-11ipc. if we were to use my idea number 2 with x=5, i think the bid would drop to 6ipc or less
The bid is a pregame placement. Unrestricted in territories you own, at sea, you must have a ship in the space already. We start at a number and bid down until someone is not willing to go any lower.
We start the bid low and who ever bids highest gets Japan. 1 $7 transport on you bid purchace placed in India is also a great buy. Slows Japans DEI efforts, and gives UK extra cash to hold out longer. With a $21 bid I would get 3 Transporst and get the DEI bonus first turn.

RE: Does J1 Attack "Break" the games?
@The:
Perhaps it should have been like original Pac where only the US could build factories. That would probably even things out.
Or a bid for Japan where as Briton gets the cash and can place the units anywhere they have units before the game starts. ie units in HongKong or a trany in India. a 12 ipc bid should suffice.

RE: Does J1 Attack "Break" the games?
ITs not broken. it just FORCES you to play a certain way if you want to win.
agreed you just have to figure out how to win against it.
Great! If you have done so, please feel free to detail these ways to win as the allies.
I gave up trying to “save” India and started playing US and ANAZC as tho they start the war after India falls 2 or 3 turns setting up, the longer India/china holds the better. US uses DD naval blockers to keep Japan out of range while sending troops/bombers/subs to ANZAC to try and reclaim one DEI even if you hold it for only one turn. After a while Japan will get worn down. Won 4 times against J1 attack took 2 or 3 days each game, but got r done.
The fact is after India/China falls there is only 8 IPC difference between Japan and allies. Kill at least one destroyer a turn.

RE: How to balance a round 1 Japanese Declaration of War
IMO The game is balanced. J1, J2, and J3. I have won with Japan on all DOWs and beat other players on all DOWs. After UK and China falls there is only an 8 dollar difference between Japan and the Allies. Having 30 or so live games Im tending to think that the balance is good. The J1 attack is hard to beat, The US and ANZAC players from the start have to plan their game for when UK is gone.
One of my fav moves for US after a J1 DOW is
destroyer/trany to midway with 3 fig, 3 tac, 2 inf
rest of navy moves to HiwaiiThis does a couple things. If japan attacks the midway destroyer light (scramble airforce) if they go heavy (dont scramble) and counter with everything in Hiwaii, airforce from midway and what ever you built last turn. Most of the time they wont attack. so now your navy is ready to attack Japan and cant get attacked. Your free to move stuff down to help ANAZC or take forward islands. The destroyer “blocker” is a great move for US. Japan might try to set a “blocker” of their own…. if they do the blast it with your bombers the destroyer wont hit that often and every destoroyer you kill evens the economy.
I know there is lots of holes in any strat and will prolly get picked apart take it or leave it.

RE: Japan's Advantage
What we have done in our games is players bid for Japan and the money goes to the Brits. 3 or 4 extra inf in Kwang or a trany in india causes Japan a whole lot of problems in the long run. In the couple of games we have played with the bid Japan has lost…… Even without the bid Allies can still win, the 8 dollar Japan advantage after China and Brit fall isnt much, US and ANZAC have to start setting up for a counter from the start. A well placed destroyer (midway) can get the us navy down to ANZAC for a turn without risking HON.

RE: Global Game Setup
I think that the global game will sell seperatly so the can sell us all the sutff that should have been in the game in the first place.
