I have GC only and think it is a reasonable game. From what I have read on the forums DDay seems to be the least popular. Perhaps someone who has played both can advise further.

If you liberate Leningrad with either US or UK units can you replace them with Russian ones so they can operate on Russias next turn?

I have AA50 but have not yet played. Does a separate Italy add or detract from the game? I think I would hate to draw Italy in a 6 player game, but I guess China would be worse. Perhaps we should make this a poll and see what the experienced players think.

I read it. It was put forth as a possible explanation for why Hitler would do something so stupid. I cant remember the actual source. Try Hitler by John Toland or The German Army1933-1945 by Matthew Cooper. Considering Hitlers impulsive behavior it seems entirely plausible, don’t you agree?

Now that I have this straight I will proceed a little further. In the later versions if the naval battle failed any committed land based or air units still have to commit to one round before retreating. However, if the naval battle succeeds the attack can be called off with the exception of aircraft which have to fight one round. Does this also apply to committed land base units? I would think so.

If an assault is made using both sea based and land based troops ie. attacking from a sz and territory, are there any retreat options? Second can air units retreat once land units are eliminated. My understanding is no on both counts. Third,is there uniformity regarding  amphib assault rules in the different versions and spinoffs?

If I remember correctly of the 91000 Axis troops taken prisoner only 6000 returned.

I have limited experience with it but like it. Haven’t played enough to say it’s broken but that is what general consensus from forums seems to be. If you like a theatre sized game it is worth a go. Personally, I like AAP because the logistics are more intricate. There is a Japan advantage which can be easily adjusted by inflating the VP requirement. I haven’t seen that much discussion in the forums on how to definitively stop the tank push inherent to AAE.

what map utilities are popular for playing by forum/email? I have downloaded mots map utility but the aa map will not open. What is available for AA50 and other aa games? I assume if I was playing a single game I could leave a board setup at home.

In a seazone containing Jap ships and US ships and planes how does combat proceed? Is there an air phase or just a sea phase? We resolved it this way; Jap ships had an air attack against US planes. Sea phase consisted of surviving planes and ships vs  Jap ships

Mission is  now soldout. Coolstuff still has 4 left at 170usd. I bought from them about a month ago when they had 12 for 75usd.

Krieg, thanks for the lightning response. Actually I never played Revised, played tons of Classic and just started playing AAE, AAP and Guad. Infact, just finished reading AA50 rules a night or two ago. My tactical tilt was probably due to playing
Panzerblitz/Leader as a teen. I figured some thought was put into this….I just couldnt extrapolate
