Flight Stand Blanks

If you wanted to put every single aircraft on stands, G40 has 50 bombers, 66 tactical bombers and 88 fighters.

That’s a lot of stands and you probably don’t need to do every single one (I personally feel if you add a magnet to each aircraft piece and have enough stands for most situations, you’re set).

I haven’t figured out an exact count yet, so someone else might be able to chime in with a better idea but I would think 20-30 bombers (35mm) and 50-60 fighter/tac stands (25mm) would be a great setup (though probably excessive in most cases).

The Base is the same size of an AA Gun. Fits Perfect.

@R DiStefano: you have the German flag wrong. The Swastika should be close to the flag pole instead of close to the other side.

Actually, shouldn’t the swastika disc be in the middle of the flag rather than off-center?  If so, the which-side-of-the-flagpole issue solves itself.

Depends on what flag you want. The flag from Hitler’s Nazi party is centered, but they used an off centered one (closer to the pole) as the flag for the German Reich itself. As such I would opt for the off center one.

These are not readily available pegs from an online store.  The ones we used here are extruded acrylic rods that need to be cut to length. They have HIGH machine tolerance levels. What that means is they are 0.001"+/- from the advertised diameter, and they can be press fit into the base without glue. And no, they will not work loose. You need pliers and a lot of force to pull them apart. The base has more than enough density to stand up right with the biggest bombers in the game even if the table is knocked around. The base is a nickel coated steel 12mm in diameter that fits the center of the counter chips perfectly just like the infantry do.

Having just mentioned the infantry, the stands are 32mm tall from the table top to the tip of the peg, leaving more than enough room for that pesky japanese bayonet.

Very nice work. I’m way too unsteady of hand and mind to pull that off.

I went to the local dollar store and bought some plastic storage trays that fit all my pieces. The blue tack planes and stands all fit in one of the trays, so i don’t waste time breaking them down. The odd one i have to reattach, but the freeing of space on the board is worth any hassle. I think in time i will invest in the magnets for the stands and planes, would be nice to have every plane with magnets so the stands will be more universal.

I saw this thread after I made my own stickers, would had saved me time for the templates, glad to see im not the only one who like flight decks, though mine are not historically accurate, I made generic ones… don’t make fun :P
