@Midnight_Reaper well, i use the 3 pieces of the first image, they serve me well, for that they are.
Now, the system and the mechanics of the game are made for a fast gameplay, and map and combat are more a -ww2 in europe- theme or abstraction, instant of a true 100% historical simulation.
Yes, random dice can by a problem some times, but rock-paper-scissors system can minimice the dice factor. And there are some post-production official optional rules and ideas, i find in the forums, to engance gameplay.
Wen i playtest all options, i can put here, if you want to know, my full opinion on the game.
First time painted game pieces for 3G40

@DMcLaren First check out Axis & Allies Miniatures, War at Sea in Forums section of Axis & Allies.org you can also go to Axis & Allies Forumini to see lots of customized ships. I have some red numbers but have not used them yet. Bought a 20/0 brush and Micron Pens at Michaels they where out of the others. The map I had printed in Hong Kong from files provided by Young Grasshopper its 73" X 33". Here are some of the new units needed for 3G40 and the map set up for round one .
-
@sansmerci I got the map from X-raypad they got the file from Young Grasshoppers posts then sent me a picture of the file. They printed it and sent me a video of it, shipped it and I got it in 8 or 9 days from ordering it to receiving it.

LOVE those biplanes!!! They look awesome! The game in progress shots give a great view of both the map and the pieces. I don’t know what you paid for that map, but it was worth every penny! Is that a GHQ transport I see in P-50?
-
@DMcLaren Thank you. The biplanes are from HBG and the transport is from my Axis & Allies War at Sea collection. All the large ships are from War at Sea.
-
@sansmerci Holy cow this makes my “customization” effort look laughable.
-
@sansmerci I like the flames here.
-
@LevHunter Thank you.

I just noticed the UK coaster roundel from HBG with a ship and some chips on the lower left of the last picture. We use them for our “Buy Box” so we don’t have to reach across the board. Is that what you use them for as well?
-
@DMcLaren In the 3G40 game rules they are used for buys that take two turns to build what you see on the German one is Elite Infantry that cost 2 when you buy them then 2 more the next turn when you put them on the board the Super Battleship costs 6/6/6 and is the only combat unit that needs three turns to build. How did you get the customizer badge? Thanks for all the pictures of your set and the very helpful tips.
-
Ah, yet another good use for the coasters!
I was awarded the Customizer badge at some point unknown, but marked on my pictures post as to when I found out I was a recipient. There is a post somewhere on the forums that tells of the process and from what I recall one has to be nominated by someone to a moderator and there is some sort of review process. Here’s a link to the award discussion thread: https://www.axisandallies.org/forums/topic/24173/customizers-round-2
Glad you enjoy the pics and tips! We all inspire each other with our pictures, tips, and techniques, so keep sharing!
