Vector Control Marker and Icons for Industrial Complexes and Bases for your Custom Printouts
-
I was working on a new startup sheet and couldn’t find any vector graphics for control markers so I whipped some up. I’ve saved them as SVG instead of PDF or ESP, which should work in any modern app, but for some reason this site doesn’t allow SVG files (even though they’re a web-native vector format).
So I also explored the images as PNG (attached), but I put the SVG files in Google Drive here:

If you’re making something printable and your editing program supports SVG, you should use it because it’s vector, meaning you can blow these shapes up to the size of a billboard and they’ll still look awesome, while the PNG files are bitmap and will get pixelated as you make them bigger.
These will work with any version of Axis and Allies (1942, 1940 Pacific, Europe, and Global). Also I have two versions of the Industrial Complexes. There is the “normal” one, but I also made one with a bolder font in case you’re shrining it to print out as a tiny icon and need to read the number on it.
Enjoy!

Jason, most of the PDF rules for axis and allies use vector graphics. You could have gotten a lot of the artwork from there assuming you had an editor…Also, If you need setup cards for 1942.2, I made some this past week using the PDF rule book vector artwork. I modeled them after the original cards.

@Mondueo Where were you yesterday? :)
Thanks… (duh)

@jasonondesign I was making the cards…lol

@Mondueo Nice! I’m doing cards for 1942 Global… they’re not pretty like yours, but they’re much easier than the current sheet. I still have to proof them to make sure there are no errors, but we’ve been using them to set up for 1942 Global for a few games and it’s much easier than the core setup list…

@jasonondesign Did that version have the icons on their cards? I like that idea, and would have been a good idea to include on mine…Too late now since I already sent mine to the print shop. They are also easy to read which is important.
I have only ever played 1942 second edition and the original. Actually just purchased the 1942 2nd edition to get back into the game. I was very disappointed when it didn’t come with a decent battle board, Paper money, plastic Industrial Complex pieces and only 6 dice total…not to mention the rules and the setup cards had enormous game altering errors in it…
Thank goodness I have Illustrator…and a buddy who has a 3d printer for the IC’s. Now I have all these things fixed for my version and ready to play…Even printed a new rule book with fixes…which is how I found out that their artwork was mostly vector which was extremely handy when making the battle board.

@Mondueo In order to play 1942 Global you need to buy 1940 Pacific and 1940 Europe (second edition of both) and put them together, and then modify them using these rules: http://headlesshorseman2.com/spring-gathering.html
Which looks like this… which is fine, but countries are in alphabetical order (which makes them hard to find), and because you’re starting with the 1940 map, and modifying it for 1942 you need to put a lot of control markers and such down. I was just trying to save space and when we set up we found that putting the control markers and bases down first makes sense, so having icons means you can just blitz through them, and then add actual units…

@jasonondesign Gotcha, makes sense.

@jasonondesign is there a place I can go to get the set up for global. I just got 1940 Europe and Pacific a few weeks ago.

@Sarge The rules for Global, as well as setup changes are listed in the back of 1940 Pacific. (You need second edition).
If you’re playing 1942 the setups are here:
http://headlesshorseman2.com/spring-gathering.htmlI also think these work for 1940 and 1942 global setups. I haven’t confirmed though.
