In all current forms of the game since AA Anniversary edition, subs (and transports) can not and do not ever block movement. So if in your example you can attack a stack of subs with a stack of destroyers and other units are free to proceed through to another seazone, even though there will be combat in that seazone (destroyer on sub).
Question?! Am I crazy?

I recently converted back to A&A the original form World At War (had to train my new diciples) and it clearly states in the manual, black on white, that infantry can only be placed in factories? What kind of XYZ is that!? How can you even think of playing UK without the opportunity to raise infantry from your terratory? Please tell me that it is a typo, a huge blunder!

Nope, thats the way it was in the original game. Changes thing quite a bit huh!
