Scotland Minor IC

if I buy an Industrial Complex with Germany, it goes off the Adriatic Sea where I can dump boats to help defend Italy.  A Major Complex in Romania sounds great on paper, but I’ve seen it a few times and, in my humble opinion, you are better off getting 10 infantry and walking them down there.  Even better, I think, transports in the North Sea as it lets you threaten North Russia, Leningrad, Scotland and England as well as moving off the coast of France.

Just my opinions and observations.

Yes…the trannies could be sunk, probably not ANYTIME though. A destroyer and loaded airbase could be a deterrent for attacks on them.
If Germany want to build an IC in that region I feel Finland would be a better choice…or they could wait until the US builds one in Norway and take it from them.

In IPC terms…

Loaded AB (West Germany, 3 FGT) + DD + 2 X TT = 52 IPC. Considering that you already have the three FGT and one TT at the start of the game then DD + TT = 20 IPC. But your FGT and available TT are tied to the Baltic. No trip to the Med, Middle East, Africa or central Russia for them.

Minor IC = 12 IPC and that’s all. Better put it in Finland for better defense against amphibious assaults and closer proximity to Leningrad.

I remember one situation where the British fighters attacked German ships. It ended up with both sides destroying each other, but the German player was just glad that his transports survived… until the French fighter launched off and ruined his day. Hehe.

I recently played my first alpha 2 game, and it did at much needed balance too the game buy lessening of the American war time economy. Also with the addition of infantry and fodder to the german war machine. Anyways, in a regular A&A Europe 1940, if the axis don’t have the game won on turn six is practically impossible. This is because on turn seven, even an incompetent USA player will have enough amassed force to destroy a province and gain a foothold in europe which is the end. The only chance Germany would have is if they control russia and have all their forces in france and central europe.

I recommend if you are building an IC in Egypt T1 with the transport sitting off the coast of egypt to pick up the inf and AA gun in Malta and land it in egypt in the sea zone that lies outside of egypt. This way you have 2 more hits, an aa gun, and your transport survives to help later in knocking italy out of africa.

My bad. Italy goes after UK, so no can do defending G2 movements.

Upon futher reflection on the map, I could see a major IC purchase for Romania being worth its weight in gold.  Buying mainly mechs from it, then moving to Ukraine with a small force of Italians will allow you to use the classic can opener threat from AA50.  Could be a good buy on G2 with the spare funds, or even on G1 if you really wanted to for a strong push on Russia G3.
