Question on retreating tank units loading onto transports

If tank units attack an adjacent territory and then decide to retreat back to where they came, can they then load onto a transport in the non combat move phase and be dropped off in another location (by transports which have not yet moved this round)?

No. That would be two moves.  The tank already moved once in the combat movement phase, and it doesn’t get to move again in the noncombat phase of the same turn.

So would like to clarify two other scenarios:

1.  What if tanks attack a territory and then decide to retreat per the retreat rules.  Do the tanks still possess one further non combat movement that they can use to move to another friendly territory (given they start with 2 movements & used 1 to do the attack)?

2.  If tanks attack a territory and take it, can they move back to some other friendly territory in their non combat move?

No, they already moved in combat move phase.

If the territory was empty (including no facilities) they can blitz in and back out again in the same combat move, but it all takes place in combat movement.  The blitzing back out part is not a noncombat movement.

Thanks Variance.  In my scenario #2, what if the territory being attacked by the tanks is occupied?  Can the tanks attack & take the territory as the first movement of their two and then during non combat pull back to a friendly territory?  If they cannot, would wonder why since they posses two movements.

Nope.  Tanks can move up to 2 spaces, either in combat move phase OR in noncombat phase; not both.  If they are moving in combat move phase and they encounter any unit in the first territory they have to stop right there.  As of the noncombat move phase of the turn, they have already made a move for that turn so they can;t move a second time.

As for mechs, they can’t blitz but if they are paried up with a tank they can move together but the tank/mech combo must start and end in the same territory
