Christian Fundamentalism ?
-
The FBI published the statistics for “hate crimes” of the last year.
The year after 9/11 there were 481 hate crimes against muslims. It was 28 the year before. That’s a rise of 1,500%. Ethnical hate crimes went up to 1,501, compared to the 354 cases teh year before , that’s a factor of 4. Ibrahim Hooper (of the council for islam-american relation … or similar)said, these numbers reflect just a very small part of what.Christian tellyvangelist Pat Robertson preached that muslims are more cruel towards jews than Hitler was. His colleague Jerry Falwell is cited that the prophet Mohammed was a terrorist.
Calling islam a peaceful religion is (cite) “difficult” for Kenneth Adelman, who is counseling at the Pentagon. Another counselor, Eliot Cohen, member of the Johns Hopkins University in Washington wrote in the Wall Street Journal, the enemy of the USA is not terrorism, but militant islam.HmmmHmmm… I remember that there was a latent antisemitism in germany before the third reich… which just needed some “justification” to break through… i wonder if a later generation of historians will see parallels in that to the above mentioned.

Well, you just named 3 of the most conservative people in the United States. Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell are just southern redneck crazies. No need to listen to them.

Anti-semitism has existed for millenia. Hitler didn’t invent it, he simply took it to a new level. There are many comparisons that are drawn between Hitler and many others suc has the Spanish Inquisition, which occured after the Golden Age of Spain. It parallels Nazi Germany for its time and some historians say that the Spanish’s mistake then is what created a weakened Spanish empire that never really rose but simply declined since.

As long as the extremist’s rantings and ravings don’t become national policy, as in Hitler’s Germany, they can say what they want. Take it with a grain of salt. There’s wacko’s on all sides of the fence…

Well, if some Iman in some muslim country talked like that… how would they be called, and how would the reaction be, by western officials (for example, GWB) ??

No need to listen to them.
They are of the most funny people, i will certainly continue to listen to them :) (note CC that NO, i don’t want to bash on your religion, i just find these guys amusing, like any fanatic).
About Hitler, he (Pat Paterson) said something VERY similar to what Hitler was saying, but not to justify the genocide of the jews, but to justify the genocide of the Midianites (or the Canaanites i’m not sure).
"The wars of extermination have given a lot of people trouble unless they know what was going on. The people in the land of Palestine was very wicked. They were given over idolatry; they sacrificed their childrend; they had all kinds of abominable sex pratices; they were having sex, apparently, with animals, they were having sex men with men, and women with women; they were committing adultery, fornication; they were worshipping idols, offering their children up; and they were forsaking God. God told the Israelites to kil them all - men, woman and children, to destroy them. And that seems to be a terrible thing to do. Is it ? Or isn’t it ? Well, let us assume there were 2,000 of them. I don’t have the exact number. Pick a number. God said, ‘Kill them all.’ Well, that would seem hard, wouldn’t it ? That would be 10,000 who would probably go to Hell. But, if they stayed and reproduced, in 30 or 40 or 50 or 60 or 100 more years, they could conceivably be - 10,000 would go to a 100,000 - 100,000 could conceivably go to a million. And then, there would be a million people who would have to spend eternity in Hell ! And it’s far more merciful to take away a few than to see in the future a 100 years down the road, and say, “Well, I have to take away a million people that would forever be apart from God, " because the abomination was there like a contagium, God saw that there was no cure for it. It wasn’t going to chance; their hearts weren’t going to chance; and all they would do is cause trouble for the Israelites, and pull the Israelites away from God, and prevent the truth of God from reaching the Earth. So, God, in love, took away a small number that he might not have to take away a large number.”
“The 700 Club” television program, May 6 1985
“How can there be peace when drunkards, drug dealers, communists, atheists, New Age worshipers of Satan, secular humanists, oppressive dictators, greedy money changers, revolutionary assassins, adulterers, and homosexuals are on top?”
“The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism, and become lesbians.”
“I know this is painful for the ladies to hear, but if you get married, you have accepted the headship of a man, your husband. Christ is the head of the household and the husband is the head of the wife, and that’s the way it is, period.”

True, that was pretty funny… but now imagine they gain influence… that’s scary!
-
yeah, but look at who they gain influence over. Usually little old ladies, or people who i could influence to help me build a mighty castle encompassing most of Alabama. These people would offer their daughters to me to have sex with, and would have giant bbq’s every day so one night i could have ribs, chicken, etc. I wonder if i could influence these people to join in a great army . . . we could take over Mexico. They may be stupid, but i imagine that they’d have great discipline . . . Does anybody here want a piece of Mexico??

I want to know how ABC can actually play the 700 club. In fact, they play it on ABC family!
How can there be peace when drunkards, drug dealers, communists, atheists, New Age worshipers of Satan, secular humanists, oppressive dictators, greedy money changers, revolutionary assassins, adulterers, and homosexuals are on top
Athiests in the same category as assasins, drug dealers, and drunkards…
I know this is painful for the ladies to hear, but if you get married, you have accepted the headship of a man, your husband. Christ is the head of the household and the husband is the head of the wife, and that’s the way it is, period
Hahahaha!
Really, it would do christians a lot of good to excommunicate the entire cast of the 700 club.

yea and who would ever listen to some washed up war vetra, Failed artist from Austria eh?

You…

true but im tying to debate this from Falks point of veiw mate ;)

I’m new on this thread, but has anyone mentioned Billy Graham or his son Franklin Graham? They are the two biggest Christian ministers in the world, and no ever seems to attack them. As far as finances go, no one can make an arguement, though, because both of those men keep their financial books open at all times. They are completely honest. I wonder if Finsternis can accuse them of anything besides believing fallacies…

Someone know of what denomination Paterson is exactly ?
True, that was pretty funny… but now imagine they gain influence… that’s scary!
I always think Stoiber was a fool… but this is nothing compare to these guys :)
These people would offer their daughters to me to have sex with
Hey, you don’t have the right to have sex before you get married :)
They are completely honest. I wonder if Finsternis can accuse them of anything besides believing fallacies…
I never said christians were not honest, caring or that they had no social conscience, i just believe they live in a world of illusions, when one guy at school said i was “finsternis” because i was questionning the existance of god, i find that was completly out of reality. And there is people out there that believe Atheist and Secular Humanist are possesed by deamons.
Anyway i already said it i did’nt want to bash at christianism, i just provide some funny quote of “famous” fundamentalist, and you should note that i use the word “fundamentalist”, and not only “christians”, i know most christians are not like that, so i prefer to call Paterson a fundamentalist.
true but im tying to debate this from Falks point of veiw mate
How could you defend an ideology as irrational and anti-humanistic as nazism ?
-
im not a nazi, just sorta of a warped Fascist. but u see although its Anti-Humanistic thats the best part, cus u see Humans arent perfect. with the right mix of Fanatasicm and Power u can mold Human Society and Nature into something much greater and Powerful ;)
or u can be shallow and just think im sphycotic ;)
-
Greater than like what?
Man, people don’t want to be MOLDED. People need to be encouraged… to educate themselves, choose how they want to improve self and surroundings. Instead of “molding” we need to organize and inspire to fight the only GOOD wars: against poverty, ignorance, disease, oppression and intolerance. (and no sense of humor)
If some religions, cults, even hobbies, give people inspiration – and advise them not to do violence unto others or nature – great! Grab your own form of mumbo jumbo and celebrate!
Fanaticism is fine for sports, art, music… maybe for love affairs. But not for public policy and international relations. Word = we got to live together.
All in good fun::: yer fellow non-zombie humanoid. Remember, the X-Men had to put their lives on the line against the <<master mold=“”>> for the good of all of us, mutants and nonmutants alike. (Well, maybe you don’t remember – this was way, way back in the late 1960s immediately following the origin of the X-Men.) Anyway, just an aside for any FANS of comix who might be lurking…</master>

So you think the old ladies are responsible for the raise in hate crimes?
Seriously, you don’t need to be smart to be violent, usually it’s more the other way round…. -
