• I must say i am very excited, just finish my first game of the global war tonight. came out with a solid axis victory too. we actually had enough ppls for every country, even china and france, to be played by a separate player. having played Germany my description of their moves will obviously be the most detailed

Germany: crushed France G1, and lined up along Russia
G2 killed Russian BB and wildly successful invasion across the entire Russian front. started continuous strategic raids on london, 1 bomber and 1 fighter a turn for 3 turn all used to stat bomb london. only ever lost 1 fighter
G3 russian front fell ever more all across the line with minimal losses, bombing runs continue, reinforcement of western europe with infantry, ferried guys with transport and bombarded with navy into stalingrad which fell.
G4 built and extra BB and cruiser in fleet, Moscow fell under concentrated attack and a few pansers gobbled up some other territories, at this point USSR only has eastern units which have just sat there all game, and eventual start to move on china, and a couple infantry who have moved into the middle east

at about this point the UK tried a daring raid to taker Berlin and my 109 IPC from me, however the fleet was sunk by mine, only losing a destroyer, and the air units with no more ground forces to back up were torn apart by my infantry, this left London basically undefended. with my massive IPC intact, the British fleet and air force crushed, the time for operation sea lion had come.

wasnt watching Italy too closely, but they faired extreamly well, britain build an IC in egypt UK1, but this was taken immediately by Italy. though they did ever so brifely lose rome to the brits, it was a very quick stay, as was very costly to the brits in the end, losing their landing force, and that navy to italian forces immediately, ensuring italian control of the med

japan chose to immediately consolidate their fleet off the chineese coast and pound them the opening turn and cut off the burma road. The UK decided to attack japan and reopen the Burma road. while it was succesful it consigned the US to three long turns of doing nothing. durring this time japan wiped china and the Anzac/Indian fleets, took the duch islands and then on J4 the philipines while utterly crushing the US navy/airforce that was sent to check them. it was only a matter of time before india fell. the main fleet had no less then 3BB, 3 full carries and 6 cruisers, after the confrontation with the US fleet at the Philipines, then over on the other side of guam at the marianas(?) sat 13 fighters and 8 tack fighters.

this is even with us not noticing that the US had inadvertently made an illegal move by building a IC at the Philipines from which i had been producing guys during its slumber…

  • What did the poor players playing China and France do once they were wiped in the first two turns?

  • drank, lol. though at one point USSR had to go, so China player took over for him, though it was maybe only 1 turn before Moscow fell…

  • Sounds really fun; I like multi-player drinking games!

    @LordCabello:

How’d they manage to take and hod Denmark?

  • How long did the game last?

Sounds like you guys had a great time.

  • You bought a BB on G4? You had Moscow on G4? Did the russian player drink his IPC’s away?

Same thing i was thinking. The Allies seem to have been a little confused on what they should try to accomplish. They didn’t work together very well did they?

    @LordCabello:

G3 russian front , ferried guys with transport and bombarded with navy into stalingrad which fell.

    How is this accomplished?

Do you mean you built a factory in Romania, built a transport and then ferried guys to the Caucasus and then attacked Stalingrad? Becasue you cannot attack Stalingrad from the water, and therefore cannot bombard.

And if you didn’t attack Russia until G2 (and the Russians had at least 1 unit in each territory approaching Stalingrad) it would be G4 by the time you could actually attack Stalingrad. Are you sure it fell G3? Or did the Russian fall into headlong retreat on R2?

  • Germany: crushed France G1, and lined up along Russia

All 3 home terriories ? Ignored Yoguslavia (or Attack+retreat exploit)  ?

continuous strategic raids on london, 1 bomber and 1 fighter a turn for 3 turn all used to stat bomb london. only ever lost 1 fighter

You do know that SBR interception/dogfight is no optional rule ?
So to raid London you have to go through 3 defending fighters
(with only 1 as Escort) AND the AAGun fire.

G2 killed Russian BB and wildly successful invasion across the entire Russian front

What is widely successful in your opinion ?
Russia lost how many units (I assume 1 Inf per Territory) ?
You gained how much IPC and how much lost Russia ?
in fact they get their NO while at war and you have to take away at least 5 IPC to “hurt” them. But thats nearly impossible I think.

ferried guys with transport and bombarded with navy into stalingrad which fell.

LHoffman already mentioned that - weird  :-D

G4 built and extra BB and cruiser in fleet, Moscow fell under concentrated attack

LOL even with G2 attack you cannot attack Moscow at turn 4.
Inf started from your own ground will need at least one more round to be in position.

If its true your Russian player wasn´t really smart.
I think its pretty easy for russia (if US player isn´t a moron) to hold Moscow long enough,
so that axis can´t win the game.

  • well we started at about 3 and went for 5.5 hours. it may have been G5, i was a bit tired by then. as for whether it was stalingrad or lenningrad i always mix those two up in my head, whichever one is north, that one. i did advance accross the entire line every turn, he kept sending his guys to the front in an attempt to cause as many casualties to me as soon as possible and stall me out, and simply could not roll at all. after i rolled his front for two turns he retreated everything he had back to moscow which gave him a hefty stack of 19 inf, 8 tanks, a fighter and tack, and some scattered arty. i did build a complex in romania. as for the bombing on london, i also didicated enough fighters to alwasy have 3 escorts. he sent all his interceptors every time, but no one ever hit anything except for the one turn we both killed one.

as for the competancy of the payers none of us had played this ed before, and most hadnt played AnA for some time. to address the US the UK made a very big mistake by attacking Japan on UK1 and so the US had to wait the whole three turns to get in the war. as for dogfighting, we thought it was optional, but he sent them up every turn anyways.

  • as for whether it was stalingrad or lenningrad i always mix those two up in my head, whichever one is north, that one.

    Leningrad is north, Stalingrad southeast.
Then an amphibious assault make sense  :-D

he kept sending his guys to the front in an attempt to cause as many casualties to me as soon as possible and stall me out

Well I think that never works for Russia, they simply haven´t enough offensiv units to really harm a german stack. They they have to retreat (to moscow only if nessecary) and wait until their time (to attack) has come. This would be the turn the US & UK put massivly pressure on western europe, italy or norway. Axis can´t defend all and head east at the same time. So time is on Russias side. But if you loose your units in senseless attacks like your oponnent did its no wonder that russia falls so quick & easy  8-)

i also didicated enough fighters to alwasy have 3 escorts.

    OK but you siad

1 bomber and 1 fighter a turn for 3 turn all used to stat bomb london.

he sent all his interceptors every time, but no one ever hit anything except for the one turn we both killed one.

    Very lucky I think

  • you started at 3 and after 5.5 hours you were tired?  8:30 is past your bed time

    Or did you mean 3am?

This version of the game might be a bit overwhelming to jump back into, after having not played for some time. There are a lot of new rules/dynamics to assimilate, especially if you haven’t played AA42 or Anniversary either. I give you credit for trying though.

I dont know about you, but I’m usually pretty tired after 5 hours of playing, no matter what time in the day it is. Tired doesn’t always mean sleepy.

  • the 1 fighter and bomber a turn was in reference to my builds, adding to whatever i was already sending. as for starting ya it was 3pm, lol. for me it wasnt my bed time. some of the others still wanted to hit the bars though, japan and i were totally willing to keep going. but the allies surrendered. losing the russians, and all their offensive capabilities kinda did that. as for the russians, they never attacked me, but they just pushed everything up to the front. oh after the game ended i realized that the US had also illegally bought an IC in the Philippines like turn 1. being so focused on Europe i didnt quite catch that though
