In my latest game, I moved a US bomber to India via Queensland. It took out a transport off of one of the DEI islands on the way, which was my main reason for doing it. Also it was useful in harrassing Japanese shipping lanes along the Chinese coast. Obviously it only contributed indirectly to the defense of India, but it was fairly painless to get it to the area.

Bombers are the WORST defenders(except transports)

So you’re right. Scrambling is for islands only.

I don’t know the acronym VC. I see on the acronym thread there’s a CV for Cruisers. If memory serves, I had 4 cruisers and 2 BS for bombardment options. By Japan’s R3, the US and ANZAC fleets were, together, noteworthy, but not yet in position.

In any game I’ve played where the US has made a dedicated push for Korea, it’s never been denied them.

Just to be sure, you are using the board errata:

The Map: Sea zone 5 should not be adjacent to Korea. The border between sea zones 5 and 6 should
meet at the border between Amur and Korea, leaving Amur still touching only sea zone 5 but Korea
touching only sea zone 6.

Of course it’s not, that’s the point of asking why would it even be involved!! And what’s 3 millions of square kms in WUSA? It’s the US, they don’t use the metric system. shoot, most Canadians don’t even use it still…

seriously though, I’m sure it goes back to the thought of if you can take the WUS, then the game is over and you should just reset the board. Sorta like what happens when you take France in most games as the Allies.

Using a J1 DoW with the intent to take out India will indeed work.I pose it to you that this is what the designers had in mind anyway, as its the only way for Japan to truely have a shot at winning. The real game is what happens after India falls. Japan must take one more VC and hold it. The games ive played vs a J1 DoW have come down to an arms race for navies and airforces, usually resulting in a stalemate until someone gets too tired an screws up. India must fall, and this makes it a much more realistic game , as Britian didnt play much of a role in this theater anyway. BTW (subs, infantry and fighters are key to US/ANZAC defenses after Britian falls). All that said, it is important that the British and Chinese kill as many aircraft as possible before they die, Yunnan and Burma must be held onto if you want to delay the J3 fall of India until J4…allowing the other Allies a chance to build up another turn while Japan is out of position.

Japan can pass through those sea zones during the non-combat phase while not at war with the ally powers. So really, is it that big of an issue?
