Help! Iron blitz Crashes before first screen

:cry: I’m trying to run Iron Blitz in XP. I don’t get to the first game screen. Monitor blacks out and then Windows returns with one of its opaque messages: Axis.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." [anyone believe that?]

The additional information isn’t meaningful to me.

Any fixes out there?  :?

This isn’t direct help, but I dug out my A&A: Iron Blitz game last night, and it ran fine on my XP (SP2) system.  So it is possible.  Sorry, I don’t have an answer why it isn’t working for you, but I wish you luck.

I’ve never played the game, but something that tends to help with older games is running in a compatibility mode.

Just right click the .exe > properties > Compatibility tab > run in compatibility mode check box > Windows 98 > OK
