    @thethedew I don’t own the game, but I think the main point of it is that it is not WW2 based. This way the game has appeal to people who aren’t that interested in WW2.

    Next game finished, some new questions :

    7th round operation torch, USA attack in Cassablanca/Algiers/Oran : is only the supply token for the first attack round provided in the setup or is that so for all subsequent rounds of the attack ? UK fighter is in the convoy zone of Malta and on the island of Malta is a UK bomber. Can a GE bomber fly through the convoy zone and attack the lone bomber on Malta or must he engage the UK fighter ? Can retreating units be part of a defensive battle in the area they are retreating in (“combat happens at the same time” => No ?) ? What about defending fighters who retreat ? How many steps ? Flanking attacks :
    a. Can you only continue the fight in the flanking attack and stop the main attack. Does it remain then a flanking attack with reroll ?
    b. Your main attack has casualties in the first round so that it becomes a smaller attack than the flanking attack. Does the flanking attack remain with the reroll advantage? Or is there a switch? A cargo remains in convoy because the SL has been reached. A sea mine is placed by the enemy. Can it be detonated during phase 6 of the owner of the cargo even if he does not place additional forces in the convoy?

    In fact for the moment we still love the AA42 2d Edition for many reasons like the interception rules that is officially this way :

    Both the attacking bombers and fighter escorts, if any, fire with an attack value of 1.
    For each “1” rolled, a defending interceptor is immediately removed as a casualty. The surviving defending interceptors then fire with a defense value of 2.
    For each result of “2” or less, the attacker chooses a casualty and removes it.
    After the air battle is complete, or if there were no defending fighter interceptors, surviving fighter escorts are considered to be
    retreated. They don’t participate in the actual bombing raid, are not subject to antiaircraft fire, and will remain in the territory
    until the Noncombat Move phase. Any surviving attacking bombers carry out the bombing raid as described above.

    Plus we ask the defending factory to pay directly in IPCs the bombing (max twice the value of the territory) like in the old versions!

    Agreed for the most part. I will add to those who haven’t played the game that the full effects of the Joe income advantage don’t come into play until the 5th or 6th round, so Cobra have around half of the game to try to eke out a victory.

    @Krieghund Thank you for the swift reply. I don’t think that thought crossed my opponent’s mind (we usually play Global, so the idea of attacking Germany…and leaving oneself open to counterattack…is not on the radar).

    Zombies is a different game.

    @Glamorboy A big load of subs can definitely be useful, and if you aren’t trying to protect transports at all, it is a good option. True, one carrier and 2 fighters loses to 5 subs. Typically though, your navy will be much more expensive than $34 and the fighters are also relevant on land. Also, subs are not good at defense while fighters defense kings.

    When I play against friends who are new, I just give them a bid. If they win, their bid goes down and if they lose, their bid goes up. I never spend money on both coasts as US because I feel like I can never get anything going at all and it seems like all the money is wasted. Also, I think it is more helpful to use viable, typical strategies against new players so that they know what to expect. I have learned a lot more about the game through losing than I ever have by winning.

    @Rescue55-joe I believe the “10 IPCs for each country” that you are referring to are actually the National Control Markers, which are used to track both conquered territories and national production levels. As barnee pointed out, IPCs are not physically provided, and the Rulebook instructs us to track them on paper, but any proxy (such as Monopoly money) will do. See page 7 of the Rulebook for details on both National Control Markers and IPCs.

    In a nutshell, the National Production Track is used to chart your “income” using a National Control Marker. and every turn the “money” goes into your “bank account”, which is represented by IPCs, where it can be spent on new units (or saved for later).

    Well it turns out that it is mainly the Japanese sculpts that are interesting in AA41 and the rest is comically off. I won’t be getting AA41 for its miniatures since for Japan that is 4 transports, 3 submarines, 2 destroyers, 2 air craft carriers, and 2 battleships with unique sculpts in AA41. 2 US Destroyer: Sumner class. 4 US Fighter: P-40, 4 UK Transport: Fort class, 3 UK Submarine: U class, 2 UK Battleship: Hood class, 2 UK Strategic Bomber: Lancaster, 2 German Strategic Bomber: He-111, 4 German Fighter: Fw-190 in AA41, 5 German Tank: Tiger I (ridiculous), 2 Soviet Carrier: Project Kostromitinov in AA41, and finally 5 Soviet Tank: IS-2.

    Well I wouldn’t mind a copy of AA41. GameNerdz in US has some older printings (not Renegade) for $20 which is a good price, but they have 24 in stock as I write so I’ll take my time thinking about this.
