Can only add that my anticipation is of the level that it makes me jittery. :-o

RE: Re: Field Marshal Games Pieces Project Discussion thread
After I posted the chines stuff, I now got 71 smites.
Please dont smite the messenger. It was not me that made the ugly-looking chines uniforms. I just posted the pic.
I don’t understand why you’d get smites for posting those… not only is it just a suggestion, I think they’re pretty good sculpts - hell of a lot better than those that come with the game. And as already mentioned, who gives a <censored>about the useless ‘smite’ function…</censored>

I agree - why would you ever want the task force markers (rubbish)? When there will be enough room to display all the fantastic ships - and it looks far more intimidating/cool.

RE: First impressions
Most rules errata are not rules “bandaids”, but simply mistakes that were made in the production of the rulebook. A missing word or sentence can make a big difference in the interpretation of a rule. Personally, I would rather play a game the way the designer(s) intended it, rather than based on an error in the rulebook.
I’ll warn you in advance, this one does have a few errors. :oops:
I did not directly refer to erratas as “bandaids,” you did. To reiterate, I personally don’t like it when bids and “add-on rules” are needed to balance a game. An “erratum” or errata, is a list of errors or corrections in regard to a body of text. These are prone to happen (though too many makes me think that the company needs to hire competent or more editors). But introducing new rules in order to balance a game… well, that shows flaws in the game mechanic itself - which to me is a much more serious issue, and one that shows poor workmanship. Typos or bad sentence structure - eh, no big deal.

RE: First impressions
I am absolutely praying and praying that this game is balanced. A very good number of people in my play group refuse to use bids or anything the equalize the game, and also do not recognize anything that doesn’t ship with the game (no rules errata, etc., if its not in the rule book that ships, its not in this playgroup), which kind of sucks.
Most of my players are of this same opinion. And I personally, think it’s lame to have to introduce bids and ‘bandaids.’ If a game needs too much of those - then it fell short of the mark in the first place (incidentally, we don’t use bids in AAA50th - and it’s been fairly balanced).

FMG’s latest update makes me all giddy and warm inside! :-D

RE: Pacific 1940 review copy has arrived
@Brain:
Once again, thank goodness for FMG
Was thinking the same - though Pacific looks/sounds great in many ways… I think many elements to do with the minis blow. Will the Royal Navy ever get their own sculpts? (but Russian did? Nice ships - don’t get me wrong… but they never see the board). Glad FMG is here to help me properly trick out the game.

RE: Pacific 1940 review copy has arrived
I too was wondering about this… is it like the old Pacific edition in regard to the Burma Road rule? Is it just artillery they can build? (which makes sense)

RE: Field Command: Singapore 1942
@Brain:
If I read that right this game shipped to the US would cost $142.90 ($84.50+$58.00).
If this is true I will wait for a review from someone.Hey BD - yeah, that’s the way I understood it as well (about the same price to ship to London)… I was thinking the same. I have a closet full of lame games, I’ve become more selective over the years. Hey IL, throw up a review (or three of them, one for each copy - eh eh eh) once you get your shipment.

RE: Pacific 1940 review copy has arrived
Hmm… just looked them over. I’m loving the map - some serious dodging and weaving through the expanse of sea zones - excellent potential for some serious naval action. Spotted a few new minis (the dive bombers and a half-track, otherwise they look like the same sculpts…). We need some more info - eagerly awaiting the report from the first couple of games… or any more info! :roll:

Yeah - I got the same form letter yesterday.

RE: A question for those who have dealt with Professors.
Offer her an alcoholic beverage, a neck massage, then ride your way to an “A”.
Eh eh eh - smooze her.

@Brain:
If and when you get more info please post it here as I am very interested.
Will do.

RE: Field Command: Singapore 1942
Yeah, I contacted them as well, no reply yet. I was wondering if I should even post it because I figured such a game was probably already covered somewhere here… but I just couldn’t find anything. So no one here has tried it out (or was able to purchase a copy before it became out of stock)? It does look of high quality… never heard of the company or designer(s) though.
:?ADD: Found out a little more, but not much :-(. The infantry are the same size as A&A, the japanese Chi Ha tanks are slightly larger, much like M44, the british carrier is smaller than AnA tanks, but “by the look of it” (according to the person who owns a copy) it should be in scale as AnA tanks. Wanting to get some other impression about the game’s dynamic though - the above info is from the person who wrote a very favourable review… but I always like to get alternate views ya know? Again read the review of the game on BGG, I’m intrigued - they really didn’t publish much in regard to when it will again be in stock…

Looks interesting, BBG has a review and some other pics. Any thoughts from anyone who has played it?

RE: Re: Field Marshal Games Pieces Project Discussion thread
I am gaping at what appears to be the finest plastic tank sculpt I’ve ever seen! Wow… I’m all in.

RE: A question for those who have dealt with Professors.
I hope it turns out ok. :|
