@surfer wait so you’re saying that you can’t bombard in a kamikaze zone even if Japan doesn’t use one? I thought it only cancelled the bombardment if they used one

Question about bombardment
Say the US has a fleet including battleships in sea zone 6(around Japan). On Japan’s next turn they buy a destroyer, or any surface warship for that matter. On the US players next turn can the battleships support an amphibious assault or do they have to attack the boat. I know they can’t do both, and if a ship is there when they move in they can’t bombard,but I’m not sure about this situation.

RE: How and when do you use mechs?
@flyingbadger very true, I’d say ANZAC has the coolest units overall

RE: How and when do you use mechs?
@thedesertfox thanks, I kinda figured it was mainly Germany but I just wanted to make sure

RE: Scrambling
@thedesertfox this is definitely one of those little rules that can totally mess you up if you don’t know it

How and when do you use mechs?
I’ve seen that a lot of people like buying mechs, and I totally get it for Germany(after a few games of failing Barbarossa) but what other nations do you guys like to buy them for? Please also mention why and how many etc. Russia in particular, I usually just buy infantry instead of mechs. Why buy mechs when they cost more?

RE: My Personal House Rules w/ revamped Tech, Free French, and more!
@armedace
Those are some pretty cool ideas, I’ve thought about incorporating marines and how to do so-your ideas seem good. I also like the idea of interceptors at 2, more realistic and makes you think about SBR more. Although I’m not so sure about reducing air bases costs and increasing their ability to scramble to nearby land-seems OP. -
RE: Research and Development House Rules
@midnight_reaper that’s a cool idea and I might have to try it. However I don’t like the idea of getting advancements for free, which is why I like some sort of facility to buy. Since the G40 R&D board seems to have the better advances on one side I’d say you have to roll a 1-4 to get the 1 column, and 5-6 to get the second. Maybe even through in an added cost to get 1-3 & 4-6. But again with that, I think countries should have to build the facilities in their capitol instead of anywhere and starting with them.

RE: Research and Development House Rules
@barnee Thanks for the advice. I really like the research facility idea there. The other is also really cool especially that you can buy it on HBG but my games never last that long so it wouldn’t work that well.

Research and Development House Rules
Does anybody have some cool HRs for R&D? Nobody really ever uses them in my game unless the game is pretty much over. I’ve seen some where nations get them from completing objectives or at a historically accurate turn they unlock them. Any suggestions on how to increase the use of them? I just find R&D such a cool idea on paper but in game it really isn’t done much and I’d hate for it to go to waste.

RE: Taking Russia
@thedesertfox Alright, sounds good. Thanks man

RE: Taking Russia
@thedesertfox Ahhh I’ll try that for sure-thanks for all the help. I started GHGs video but wasn’t able to finish it with my busy life lol. The red army will definitely be caught off guard in my next game.

RE: Taking Russia
@thedesertfox I’ll have to try that, I usually end up going for Northern Russia for some reason-but I see why Southern Russia would be smarter. At what point in Barbarossa do you stop pouring money in the East and start working on either the Med or Sealion? This is what usually trips me up if I get through their “Maginot” line because I keep spending money on planes and such but then the UK and US pull off an easy D Day and strat bomb everywhere so I can’t really counterattack them.

RE: Taking Russia
@oysteilo
I’ll have to try using this, I’ve seen the common purchase of a carrier and either 2 transports or a sub and destroyer but I haven’t tried that when I’m not doing sea lion -
RE: Taking Russia
@thedesertfox
I’m don’t necessarily have a set turn I attack Russia but it has commonly been G3, and Russia almost always does YGs R1 withdraw meaning I won’t actually fight until G4 or maybe 5 -
Taking Russia
Hey all, I’ve played a few games and i haven’t figured out how to take over Russia as Germany-yet I’ve heard it’s easy. I try to take all of the infantry tanks and artillery in Eastern Europe and march to Moscow. But there’s so many Russians that by the time I get my army and air force there I can’t take it. Then I find that Western Europe is left very vulnerable, any suggestions?

RE: Ottoman Empire in G40/Europe
@panzerknacker
This is a really cool idea, have you play tested it? From the pre-game set up is appears that Italy is at a huge disadvantage from the increased UK presence in the Med. Also, do you have some sort of rule preventing the Ottomans from blitzing through Russia?
