RE: US Fleet doom move
You fly back and forth from Southern France, as Germany and or Italy.
If Germany does main damage, Italy can follow up. Ofcourse there is the possibility of losing av bomber now and then. But after all, it is was, and things get destroyed. Would you rather sit and wait and build Infantery in Southern France, Northern Italy and Southern Italy. And Greece, Albania, Yugoslavia? If you let them too easily in there, it will be a MESS!

RE: US Fleet doom move
Yes, it´s a hard knox life when US comes down there…
But I might have found a way to counter it somewhat…:
- Have Germany (or Italy if possible) bomb the naval base really good in gibraltar every round. UK need to repair it, and that will put a strain on their economy.
- AND if the Italians bomb it also, the UK can not repair in time for the US to benefit from the naval base.
- THis is in germanys core interest, as i helps protect Denmark, Norway
- It slows US naval movement back to US significantly
- Italian areas are not that easily threathened
- US cannot move rapidly to UK either
Is it worth it? Let me hear your so-called 2 cents (which most of the time is several hundreds of bucks on these forums;)
Good night from Norway,

RE: Vichy France
Awesome and simple rule. Also, these units should never be able to leave French original territories.

RE: How long do your global games typically last?
First Europe game; 9 hours. But we talked, went through rules, ate, drinked and farted.
My feeling is that Europe shoudl take 4-6 hrs, global 5-8.

RE: The case for or against the Afrika Core
After taking Yugoslavia, I ferried 2 infantery on 2 seperate Italian transports, so they also had room for 2 italian tanks. These germans stayed landed in Syria and Palestine, and helped threathen egypt, provoke UK to attack Iraq and finally secure Egypt better, AND get that sweeeeeeet NO…
btw, does one get the NO if the german unit in Egypt is a fighter??

RE: E40 after action reports
Last weekend I played Germany, and my friends played italy, Sov and UK/US.
After 7 rounds we concluded that Axis would win: The Germans was 1-2 areas away from Moscow and Stalingrad with 11 tanks, 12 inf, 4 art, 4 TACs and a bomber. Moskva has like 3 units and very low income. Also, Italy had captured Egypt on I4 og I5, and secured it with a minor IC. The US was still a large threath coming underbelly towards South France, Italy and north Africa.
Key facts
- Germany viped all royal navy outside UK with the loss of 4 subs and 3 planes. Attacked France with all land units (exc 2 for Normandie) and 3 planes. Lost all ground except 3 tanks. - Ger Built factory in Romania and later Ukraine.
- Ger attacked Soviet on G4.
- Soviet produced superstacks on 2 of 3 front areas. They got wiped thanks to tanks/TAC combos.
- Germany had Italy ferry 2 infantery to Middle east, which later walked into Egypt for that sweet bonus.
- UK challenged Med with carrier on UK2 or 3, and it was painful for italy to rid. Had to buy subs to block and prepare for sneak attacks. Worked well.
- Iraq was attacked by UK, and lost. Retaken by Italy.
Ok, not very structured or detailed overview, but u get the picture. Axis victory.

RE: R-Day in Europe (R for Release)
Oh yeah, we will! Atleast next weekend when we have set aside 3 days for gaming. So far the game resides on my dining table for strategic thinking and drooling.
For you danes (and even germans around Kiel area) there is several ferries going to Oslo. Hop on it, visit our capital and grab the game, plus some good tax free on the way home. I think those trips are very affordable, sometimes even free. Like, if I were going from Oslo to Copenhagen, the boat would leave in the evening, be in Copenh in the morning and return early afternoon. Heck, you could even play games on the return trip (approx 7 hrs).
Viva La Norwege!

RE: R-Day in Europe (R for Release)
Just came from the largest gamestore in downtown Oslo, and they had like 20-30 copies of the game. Secured me one, the rest is up for grabs :)
Store is Outland, in Østbanehallen (shopping area within central train station).
“…putting the units on my table, la di da di da…” :-D

RE: German IC's
Actually, the one who owns the black sea can threathen alot of territories:
Caucasus, Rostov, Ukraine, Bessarabia, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece (!) and ofcourse Turkey.
Imagine a Soviet factory in Caucasus, pushing out sone ships into the black sea. They can threathen many German areas behind the front. Ofcourse the Luftwaffe can deal with this fleet, but that takes resources away.
On the other side, more likely, Germany can put some transports in the water here, and “jump” behind Soviet lines.
Perhaps to creative, but still - what fun!

RE: R-Day in Europe (R for Release)
Hello - regarding Norway…
What info do you have that claims it is late? According to the largest gamestore downtown, the game will be here by the end of this week.

RE: German IC's
What about building an airbase too in the same area as the IC (whether Romania, Finland or Norway)?
That way you can deploy some inf there, AND parachute them away (if you have the tech).
Imagine soviet on the offensive v Germany, and you have no factory in Romania… Bye, bye IPCs, Italy, Yogo, Greece, etc… I think a factory in Romania is crucial, as the distance to the south of Soviet is too far from West Germany and Germany. I like the Yogoslavia idea, though, as you can put stuff in the water.

RE: A new look at the same picture.
Can anyone see if Norway has a boundary with USSR; historically there should be a small strip of Finland between them.
No. The Finns lost this area (Fiskerhalvøya) in the winter war, ending in ´39.

The baltic sea is supposed to have 3 sea sonez according to LH

RE: Europe 1940 shows up on Wizards site…with screenshot
I seems to me that there is 2 infantry (not stacked) in Norway, and a thin white line. It leads me to think that Norway has been split in two. Southern and Northern Norway. This is exiting, both in an historical context and gameplaywise.
Anyone else see this?

RE: How will Rommel get to Africa?
Øøøøh, it´s alot simpler than that…
They use italian transports.
(Probably what they did historically also?)
This gives the german armor a slow entry, so it has to be planned and don´t come to late.

RE: Russia
Or you simply place most of their modern troops (artillery, mech if they have any, tanks) in Moscow, at 3-4 territories from the border. And then, they cannot physically attack Germany before turn 3. Even more if you divide their numerous infantry in many places. And if you do not give them a lot of tanks, then they would be foolish to attack, because Germany should have, by then, crush France and push a good part of its army in Poland to defend.
Relax all you guys. This is it. No rules needed.
(Also, not having a factory at the border + a peacetime income, like US, is key to making this balanced and historical.)

RE: Settlers of catan
I´ve never played the board version, but downloaded Settlers for iPhone. Man, have I been playing that game alot. I can imagine it´s more fun “live”. Perhaps kids can play too? My daughter is 7. Too young?

RE: A&A Banker Program
id love the help, and its programmed in java and the file uploaded is a jar so it should run
Oh, I´ll have to give it a try… PM me, and we can exchange some emails - and work on the looks…

RE: A&A Banker Program
Looks great! Could need some a bit more graphis and colour. That way the eyes would have an easier way of figuring it out. Makes you use theprogram faster. As I have a degree in design, I could help you - if you turned this into a Mac-application as well
