Any reason you can’t play 1941 rules with the 1942 game?

RE: When was Europe 1940 discontinued?
Ok, simple question. If all the rumors are true that Europe 1940 will be reissued in February of 2012 then why is the first edition up to 149.99 and selling for over 200 on ebay? Can anyone explain it to me “… like I was a two year old?”
Supply and demand. If you have the only copy for sale in existence, you charge what people will pay. Not everyone knows there’s going to be a reprint (if indeed there will be one).
For what it’s worth, militaryman077, it’s an awesome game, so keep looking. :)

RE: Victory City marker chart?
I saw one around somewhere but I can’t find it now. Here’s a bump so someone who knows can maybe point you in the right direction.
I was working on adding VCs to my National Objective charts (linked in my signature), but I haven’t gotten around to it. I haven’t really worried about it because of the six Global 1940 games I’ve played none of them have come down to VCs; the Axis win is always pretty clear before we actually get to that point.
Edit: Found the one I was thinking of (fifth post down):

RE: Alpha+.2 National Objective Charts + Simple 1940 Battleboard
Thanks! And yes, I’m ready to change with the setup. This is version 6 of the file. :P

RE: Building IC on foreign soil
Say I’m Germany. The US takes West Germany. Major IC there becomes Minor while held by the Americans. Then Germany re-takes it. Does Germany has to pay the 17ipc to upgrade the IC again? or does that happens automatically?
They have to pay to upgrade recaptured Minor ICs. And I think the cost is 20 IPC each.
btw: Paris becomes a Minor IC as soon is taken by Germany, right?
Yep.

RE: Alpha Stuff
I just had to print a few things:
-
The new setup (I just copied and pasted it into notepad from the HGD thread).
-
The new rule changes (same as above - notepad).
-
The new National Objective charts (I made mine in excel, uploaded them here).
That’s it. The battleboard hasn’t changed, and I use the IPC tracker that came with the Europe game. Things aren’t finalized yet but from what I understand the end is getting closer.

RE: Map Size
A sheet of plexiglass should prevent that (and protect the board and remove any issues with creases where the folds are)
Yeah I’ve thought about that. Any idea where I could get a big enough piece that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg?

RE: NO Chart for Alpha+.2
Good job man! One question: You have a couple NOs with the word “start” over them, which I assume means the game starts with those objectives completed. If that’s the case, there are two Allied NOs that are mislabeled: UK-Pacific’s “+5 IPCs all original territories” and ANZAC’s “+5 All original territories plus Malaya.” Both powers need to be at war with Japan for those NOs to be active, so neither one will be active at the start of the game.

RE: Map Size
If your game is like mine - you may want to plan for some way for your table to hold the board down. Mine pops up at the corners pretty bad. :(
Looking forward to seeing pictures here too. :)

RE: AAG40 FAQ
@The:
Can you activate a friendly neutral on your way to attacking an enemy tt?
i.e. german tank in Nrwy goes to finland and then attacks Karelia
Nope! The friendly neutral part is a non-combat move.

RE: Global 1939
It is indeed an A&A map. I can’t tell you much more than the page at HBG can:
http://www.historicalboardgaming.com/?p=3053
It appears to me that IPC values for territories are in small red squares. You can download the setup and rules at the link above to see if it sounds like fun to you. Sounds a little too different to me personally.

RE: AAG40 FAQ
Re: Mech infantry movement-
You have it right with your three options. Think of mechs as infantry units that can move two spaces. If they’re paired with a tank, they can blitz as well. If not, they have to stop in the first enemy territory they enter, even if it’s empty.

RE: ANZAC Autonomy! Anzac declares war on Japan separately from the UK
@Idi:
How come
'Cause Larry said so. :)

RE: French Indo-China
@manincellv:
Alpha +2.
If Japan takes FIC, they lose there 10 IPC bonus, Correct?
Yes.
Does that bring USA into the war?
No.
Does it bring UK/ANZAC into the war?
No.

RE: AAG40 FAQ
I don’t see any Mongolian territories with IPC values. Did you mean 1 and 2 Infantry, perhaps?
Ok I’ve misunderstood this for a long time then. Is there no point in attacking Mongolia aside from position? Are they treated as a strict neutral in the Global game?

RE: AAG40 FAQ
In our last Global game (playing Alpha+.2) my Soviet Union attacked the westernmost territory in Mongolia, so we placed neutral units on the rest of the territories. My opponent then used one of Japan’s tanks from Manchuria to blitz through two Mongolian territories to capture them both to get the IPC values (the spaces were 1 and 2 IPCs). Is that allowed?

RE: Alpha+.2 National Objective Charts + Simple 1940 Battleboard
The money is from historicalboardgaming.com. I sold off all my old A&A versions to pay for the new games, but I can’t function properly without paper money, so I snagged a couple stacks from them. Especially when I’m playing the Allies in .2 and I’m working on four purchases in a row while I’m waiting for Japan to finish its turn.
I highly recommend HBG, btw - the money is excellent and he shipped it out quick.

Alpha+.2 National Objective Charts + Simple 1940 Battleboard
I put together some updated NO charts for Alpha+.2 in case anyone is interested. Unfortunately they don’t all fit on one page any longer so I split them into two. Use infantry units to mark NOs that are active. Enjoy! :)
Also here’s a simple battleboard I put together. My A&A buddy and I are on the same side of the table, so I put together a battleboard with all the text facing the same way to make it easier to read. Works for all 1940 series games.
Get it here.
