If the Axis control and block Gibraltar does that cut off the 6 IPC from the Mediterranean convoy line?

Gibraltar - Does Axis control and closure deny UK of 6 IPC?

RE: Subs, Destroyers, MAP and other ships
@manincellv So a normal plane (not seaplane nor long-range tech), from London, can patrol SZ25 and that is it? British Midlands can patrol one of the following SZ10, 11, 24 or 25.

RE: Subs, Destroyers, MAP and other ships
@manincellv Ok…I thought the sub forfeits its roll in order to dive/submerge and get away.
-
RE: Subs, Destroyers, MAP and other ships
@manincellv Makes sense. Guess the moral of the story is, don’t send a lone Lt CV and plane…lol…
-
RE: Subs, Destroyers, MAP and other ships
@manincellv I wish there was a Playbook that provided more examples. The rules do not do this justice and like I said, 16 games in and we pretty much bypassed Convoy Raiding…just didn’t seem important and too easy to kill subs. Thank you for your input!

RE: Subs, Destroyers, MAP and other ships
@manincellv Ok…so the carrier could sit in SZ22 or with the U-Boat in SZ21 and the plane would fly MAP safely and attack the sub with a place to land on the carrier 1 or fewer SZ away.
The U-Boat could Combat Move on it’s turn to SZ21 and attack the carrier, the carrier can defend/roll at a Lt CV defense hit @ 1.
-
RE: Subs, Destroyers, MAP and other ships
@manincellv Got it, 1x per sub + 2 Mod so one sub max possible = 7 (6+2-1) as the UK lowest roll is = 1.
-
RE: Subs, Destroyers, MAP and other ships
@manincellv Ok…so the plane could fly from the carrier, lets say from a carrier in SZ24, establish MAP and then attack the sub.
Soooo…only Destroyers with a plane on MAP can attack a sub or just the plane on MAP by itself? No other combination of MAP/Plane and ship…wow. And an Advanced Sub, only plane on MAP.

RE: Subs, Destroyers, MAP and other ships
@manincellv Right!..forgot the sub modifier of +2. Thanks!

British Malaya Fortification
Attack from which sea zone(s) or land zone does the fort in British Malaya protect? It reads, but just confirming, as it protects against all the sea and land zones, so Siam, SZ88 and SZ122.
Do fortifications provide the same protection against airborne assaults or just land or amphibious?

Subs, Destroyers, MAP and other ships
Ok…read through the GW36 sub, convoy, MAP many times. 16 games in and nobody uses convoy because I don’t we think we fully understand it.
Scenario (assume all valid/true):
-
U-Boat in SZ21, alone. German turn, U-Boat rolls a 6, UK rolls a 3. UK loses 3 IPCs immediately.
-
U-Boat in SZ21. UK, on its turn, combat moves Lt CV with fighter and a light cruiser to SZ21. UK can attack the U-Boat immediately as CV with a plane always has MAP. The light cruiser can also attack, but the U-Boat gets 1st strike because the UK does not have a Destroyer.
U-Boat if not killed can dive and on the German turn roll against the convoy line without any threat of being sunk. The UK can attempt to sink it again during the UK combat movement.
- U-Boat in SZ21. UK combat moves Lt CV with fighter and a light cruiser and a destroyer to SZ21. UK can attack the U-Boat as CV always have MAP. The light cruiser and destroyer can also attack the U-Boat. No 1st strike for the U-Boat due to destroyer.
U-Boat if not killed can dive and on the German turn roll against the convoy line without any threat of being sunk. The UK can attempt to sink it again during the UK combat movement.
-
U-Boat alone in SZ79. The U-Boat can roll a 1D6 (+2 DRM for Sub), 3 times, one time against the UK 3 line from S. Africa, one time against the UK Mediterranean line of 6 and one time against the UK 6 line running along the coast of Portugal? SZ79 is the intersection of 3 convoy lines totaling 15 IPCs available for convoy raiding.
-
Any ship can attack a sub provided there is a plane on MAT.
Thank you. Please comment, provide suggestions, etc.

RE: Index
@mrgoatcheese Thank you!..I though I was the only one that thought it is crazy not to have a proper Index. I have created one and will be posting when I get all the entries I want/need. It drives me nuts when rule books do not have indices.

RE: KMT as a Major Power
@generalhandgrenade What happens if it or the CCP drop below 13 IPC income, do they lose their Major Power status and revert to minor power?
-
RE: GW1936 v3 2-Player Rules?
@hbg-gw-enthusiast Yes, actually we let the Japanese control the CCP. At 1st we were trying the Japanese controlling the KMT but we switched it. It kinda works. Also, we need to fix some of the rules preventing the Soviets and Allies from cooperating, sharing territories, etc. Essentially make it more like Global 40 or it is just a farce to have the Soviets pretend to be a faction vying for 1st place. Too bad there isn’t a published 2-player version.
-
RE: Limits on Technology in GW 36 Game
@hbg-gw-enthusiast We limit total tech to 4. One can research 2 free at a time. Can pay 3 IPCs per roll to research other 2 faster or simultaneously.

GW1936 v3 2-Player Rules?
Has anyone developed a 2-player variant that works? So many things don’t make sense with 2-players.
-
RE: 1940 reference cards
@themarshall Are you the creator of those circles (kind of look like a target)…I have another player aid with those that are on an 11x17" card. Just wondering who created those.

Digital Map File?
Has anyone scanned or know where/how to get a digital copy of the OOB map?

RE: Lets talk about Air Power
Any air combat hits are most likely taken against incoming bombers and from our games there are is usually only one or two bombers in a raid. If one protects important territories with perhaps 3 fighters then that should take care of one bomber. Any tanks or artillery will also get AAA.
Losing rail or a factory space or a resource is not that devastating overall. Losing a stack of units under construction is painful and thus one has to consider where to build and how much to protect.
Do not see an issue yet with strategic bombing or surface bombing. Bombers are costly and vulnerable (i.e. fist hit).
