RE: What are the most effective units?
Last Sunday, I played a 100 points game. I was playing USA and my opponent was playing Germany. I was hoping to try my paratroopers since I had just get those and my opponent had the same kind of idea, he used his King Tiger. At start, I was pretty afraid of that huge thing, but it handed out that, against infantry, my paratroopers, the King Tiger isn’t worth the 72 points.
My point is, if I would have to field a huge tank I would go with the Tiger and even than I prefer using more less powerful tank. One big tank is fun, but many give you enough maneuvrability to beat and adapt to different situation. So even if I personnaly have a King Tiger, I don’t think I’ll ever put it into play in a 100 points game (ok, well, I’m going to do it anyways because the unit is cool  , but I wouldn’t in a tournament.

RE: What are the most effective units?
Yeah, I think you’re right on this one, no turret isn’t a real drawback anymore. Anyways, who’s going to shoot with his tank showing his back, no one…
Anyways, we’ll see what we can do about it. -
RE: Transporting Artillery
Yes, horses played a definite role in the WWII. As a matter of fact, many messenger used them too in Europe because it was “cheap”, required no oil and was able to go pretty much anywhere. As a matter of fact, in Set II, they even created the polish cavalrymen. Even if most people think those guys were just crazy stupid foolish guys, we must remember that most fuel tank were easily targetable back in 1939. So those cavalrymen would used bombs attached to spears and they would target the fuel tank, destroying the tanks. As well, a horse is far more hard to hit, because of it’s mobility, than a tank or a regular soldier.
So my point is . . . horses rock ! -
RE: What are the most effective units?
The stats of the Sturmpanzer IV “Brümmbar” are those :
Cost : 22
Speed : 3
Defense:7/4
Infantry : 9/9/7
Vehicles: 8/6/4
Abilities: Fixed Howitzer - This unit can attack only units in front of it.
Blast - When this unit attacks, make a separate attack roll against each unit in the target hex. (This includes friendly units.)
Bombardment - This unit’s attacks ignore cover. The fact is against soldiers, this guys a total killer, but against vehicles, well, it’s not that good. I have played against it once. I was playing Soviet Union only and my opponent was playing Germany only. I chose to field 6 Mosin Nagant (18), 1 Commissar (5), 1 Cossack Captain (9), 2 Soviet Antitank (16), 1 KV-1 (32), 1 Fanatical Sniper (8) and 1 T-80 (12). My opponent had the new SS Panther IV (32), one 40mm Antitank (14), one Brümmbar (22), one German Sniper (11), one SS officier (7), 2 SS Panzergrenadier (10), one Kar-98 Infantry (3). At the start of the game, I was pretty afraid of the Brümmbar and the german artillery, but luckily, my sniper killed in turn 2 the artillery. After that, I rushed the SS Panther IV and I was able to destroy it quickly too. During those turn, my opponent had killed my T-80 and my both infantry. Unluckily for him, he wasn’t able to do more than disrupted with his Brümmbar against my infantry. Still, with his SS Panther IV dead, his Brümmbar was dead meat too. I rushed him with my KV-1 and he wasn’t able to do anything against me. Should my KV-1 be killed by the SS-Panther, even if I would have been able to destroy it, the Brümmbar would have destroyed me, totally.
In conclusion, I think that the Brümmbar, for 22 points, is pretty powerful. As for the KV-1, it had saved my day, once again ! -
RE: Type 2 Ka-Mi Amphibious Tank
Personally, I’m truly not against home rules, but I think it’s dangerous because, if you make one house rule, than another, than another and so on…you just kill the fact that this game is fun because it’s simple. I’ve been playing many war games and what’s so fun about this one is that you can just play a game in 30 minutes.
But in another way, it’s true house rule rock, 'cause you make the game your own.
In regards of the rule for hide, I think it could be really easy to handle. With mini map of the real map, you write down were your hiding units are and when an ennemy pass at “x” hexes of your own hex, you’re discovered or something like that. That could be great and enhance the strategic aspect a lot, but games would take a little bit longer to be played. -
RE: Type 2 Ka-Mi Amphibious Tank
Well, so far, even with set II, I think the Japanese are a little bit weaker because of one big reason. They have nothing really strong. Yes, they can have hordes and hordes of units but when they are match with one big adversary unit, say the Easy Eight or even a single KV-1, they just don’t have what it takes to take it out. As well, their different bonus in forest hexes aren’t that useful because there isn’t enough forest hexes in all the tiles so far.
What’s bad is that I have zons of Japanese and I would like to try to play only with them, but I’m always afraid that because of the lack of punch they have, my adversary will field a huge tank unit and litteraly destroy me while I stand still unable to do anything against him.
Anyways, I think you’re right when you say that the Amphibious tank and the tankette are bad. I’m talking in a game terms way, not historically.
That’s my 2 cents.

RE: Transportation of commanders
Personally, I think a commander can use it’s ability while it is being transported. As a matter of fact, I normally put my sovietic commander in a tank so they aren’t easily killed and they can still help the unit adjacent to them. With the set II, the cossack captain become pretty useful that way.

RE: Churchill Crocodile Flamethrower
You guys are just jealous of me kicking your butts…
No, I must agree, I think the Churchill Crocodile is pretty porwerful for his cost indeed. -
RE: Churchill Crocodile Flamethrower
The card mentions the ability being effective against a unit, so normally it would mean a soldier or a tank (or whatever else). Which make the Churchill so dreadful.
