This is a new concept that I would liek to try. It is obvious to me that I need to up the anty in my play. The basic rules stuff is way too easy and predictable. I have strategies that go way beyond all that. What is bidding all about. It sounds like it would be a real challenge added to the game.

RE: Ultimate Axis strategy
I love Japan. Just thought I’d add my personal preference. I can wreak havoc all over with Japan and be in Moscow within 4 turns. I wanted to help germany. GB is useless without a navy. They are “dead in teh water”. I spend my money on planes to make sure that GB cannot splash down a navy. I buy at least one plane per turn and then spend the rest on INf and AMR. It is a slower march through Africa and a slower attack on Russia but if the rolls are right I can wear down russia enough that Japan can come in the back door.
If Japan takes Moscow then Germany can turn its full attention to building a navy in the med and building up in africa. Meanwhile GB is just got a bazillion things sitting on the land and no way to go anywhere.
Word of caution. I have played this many times and it has played to a “battle of attrition”. Germany and GB lose tons. Japan usually copmes to save the day but it can go sour if the rolls go against you.

RE: Russian immunity
Thanks guys for showing me that I must be on another level of play than the basic directions. What is the RR you speak of and what is the bidding. I hae never heard of bidding. How and whay do you do it. Is there a posot I can read that explains it well. I might have to begin playing that way as the basic is just way to simple.

Russian immunity
I have found a foolproof russian strat that I have not been able to beat.
If you play that russia can attack in the first turn, Russia then takes the offensive. I do not remember the names of the territories but there are 3 that are german and one Russian. The russians launch an attack from Karelia to the german territory in the middle. By taking over this territory the russians cut the supply lines and germany is not able to launch an immediate attack on karelia. I have attacked the other two german territories just to wear them down, and had great success. By the time germany can laucnch a Karelian attack Karelia has too many inf on it defending. As far as Japan goes. By the time Japan is knocking at the eastern door to Russia Karelia is huge and Russia can divert back to the capital. Russia then plays it safe and waits fro GB and US to take the pressure off.
Can you guys play this out a few times and see what can be done to beat it.MIKE
