Hi guys, I’ve already set up the board for my first game with the Axis (always played Allies, time to change the roles). NO’s, no bid.
On G1, I’d prefer taking Gibraltar with 1 INF, using the TRN. That prevents the Allied ships from landing there and it’s one step closer to an ITA NO, but on the downside I’ll probably lose my TRN to the UK bomber.

I’m not taking EGY on G1, I prefer using my bomber to take out as many UK ships as possible.

Any thoughts on that? Is it worth losing the TRN to take Gibraltar?

      @LT04:

What it boils down to is what capitol do you want to take first?

That would be Moscow, as it seems the ‘easiest’ route to victory.

Thanks to all for the advice!

      Great, thanks.

I suppose I should leave some navy hanging around Solomon Islands to prevent the US from island hopping?

    • G1

Hi guys, it’s been a while since I’ve been here and played a game. I usually play as the Allies, but tomorrow I’ll be on the other side (controlling both J and G). There’s been a lot of discussion about it, I know, but I haven’t found a clear answer yet…

I’ve been looking at the map, but I’m not sure what to do with G1. I feel that a large INF buy is necessary to keep up with the Russians. The Baltic fleet is giving me the most doubt. Should I or should I not add an AC? If so, should I just let the fleet sit there, or should I block a SZ to prevent the Allies from sending in TRN? I’m not very keen however, on throwing money into the ocean as I can use it for land- or airforce.

I’m assuming I’ll lose the UKR FIG. Would it be a good idea to send my SUB to the UK TRN in SZ1? Or would it be too risky, not using it against the UK BS?

FYI, we don’t play with bids nor NA’s.

      Many thanks,

      Mr. Bo

      Thanks Switch.
However, I don’t completely understand. The AC is in SZ 35, next to India. ‘Pearl Harbor’ is 5 SZ away (SZ 52).
So, do you first move the AC to, say, SZ 38 (next to Aus), and are you allowed to move another 3 zones with the FTR, to PH through SZ 45 (the one with the sub)? I thought FTR start their move from an AC, counting from the original SZ the AC is in (so maximum 4 spaces at all times).
However, reading my post again, this is ot possible - combat comes before non-combat, so you can’t attack that sub…
Could you post the necessary steps that have to be done with the FTR, with SZ numbers?  :?

      Tnaks in advance…

If I may suggest, perhaps the UK fighter should really be used to do the Pearl Harbor reinforcement (attack solomons then reinforce the Pearl fleet0. The UK fighter is not needed in either Kwangtung nor in Buryatia. The Kwang transport will fall a vast amount of the time vs 1 dest/car/tran, and Buryatia is secure from any reasonable J1 assault with the Russian fig there

Trihero (or anyone): HOW? I just set up the board (I’m going for my first KJF tomorrow) and I can see no way of getting that FIG all the way to the US AC on UK1…

      Thanks for your advice.
Indeed I forgot to mention the Sinkiang IC. You speak of the threat of Japanese forces breaking through south/centre/north, but if I were Japan I wouldn’t pay too much IPC for  forces going after Russia if a huge US and a less huge GB naval fleet are sitting in my own backyard (Jap island) eager to take my capital. I believe my opponent will go on the defensive, and that’s what you want, no?
Stalemate Japan and kill it softly, shifting US and GB IPC to Germany turn per turn. If Jap is kicked off the mainland, my goal would be reached. Then I would send in UK and US fighters towards Russia to boost the USSR inf.
Would you guys also send some US navy to defend the GB navy around GB in the beginning?

Soory, something went wrong… Full text:

      Hi guys,

I’ve seen a lot of discussion upon a KJF game, but all the advice is spread out…
Anyway, I’d like to try this one next game (next week), since I’ve won the last dozen of times with the KGF, and it does get boring after a while.

      So…

      1. I’d focus on Japan with US navy. Initially, all navy buys in the Pacific? The advantage is, you can get ground forces through Bury to protect Russian territory after a few rounds. Jap navy will be forced to go north, and that’s the chance for a UK navy around India to mess around a bit. Let the Jap fleet attack you, never attack yourself (unless supremacy is obvious).
      2. That implies of course a minimal build in the UK itself, also leaving the Med and Northern Seas to Ger domination. Would you also send in US boats? I think that’s the biggest problem of all, that Ger navy sitting there. I believe you still have to get GB forces in Russia to help them out (after an India IC in R1, divide your IPC to India and UK).
      3. Or try a South Africa IC instead of India, to keep your IPC level up in Africa and possibly draw the Ger attention away from Russia to the less important Africa?
      4. Would you maintain the normal way of playing USSR (the usual stack + territory trading). Do you think that’s feasible, with Ger having less on their mind around Europe?

Has anyone ever succeeded in a KJF? By the way, we play the basic stuff, no NA’s or bidding.

      Thanks in advance!
