    • RE: AAG1940 at Gencon so far

I can’t immagine that a viable Soviet strategy would be to have one infantry in your border territories, with your main forces waiting to counter-attack. What if the Soviet player did this, and then the german player decided to only attack with 2 infantry and a bunch of aircraft. You would ony have 1 maybe 2 infantry to counter attack for yourself

Hey IL, you said you have historical information on the forces in the field of world war 2, do you think you could provide a link to your info, or do you get it from a book?

    • RE: Making Airbases Required for Flight/Landing

I like this idea except or the fact that it would cancel out the existing bonuses airbases give. Maybe you could say that only on islands, not counting japan or Australia, do you need airbases to land or launch aircraft. What do you think?

    • Carolines

I’ve decided that from an allied standpoint attempting to pry the carolines from the Japanese is a waste of time. Infact I think that the Japanese player should hope that the allies, the US truly, will focus on taking the carolines. With an airbase, naval base, and superior Japanese income (inevitable unless the japaneses player is dumb) the US can never take the carolines no matter how hard they try. I have played many a game in which the Allies have lost because the US player wasted his time trying without success to take the carolines. That being said I haven’t been able to forge a successful alternative strategy for the US and am looking for ideas.

    • RE: India crush, how to stop

The survival of both china and the uk are intertwined. If one falls then japan will surely destroy the other. In my experience the only way the
allies can win us if at least one of these nations survives, and usually it’s both or neither. My thoughts are that it’s up to the US and Anzac to put enough pressure on japan to keep china and or the uk alive. My problem is I can’t figure out what the US and Anzac should do.

    • Airbase Usefuleness

Has anyone found airbases to be very useful? I find naval vases to be really useful, but not airbases. It seems to me that the extra movement bonus for aircraft rarely makes much difference, and that scrambling is not very useful unless you have tons of fighters. It seems to me that aircraft carriers are a much more useful investment, acting like mobile airbases. Please share your opinions and strategies regarding airbases

    • China too weak

Don’t know about any of you guys but, I got my copy of AAP40 and Ive only played one game, but China seems much too weak. I played as Japan and never once had to send any additional units to my china front, not counting the units from Manchuria, and was able to easily take all of china in a few turns. I thought that the Chinese were supposed to be a major thorn in the Japanese side in the game but china was a pushover in my game. It seems like the chinese were much more a force in the old pacific. Just my two cents. What have your experiences with china in the new game been like

    • RE: Complain to WOTC if you dont like the quality!

I’m definately sending in my complaint, and I seriously urge everyone to do he same. That way by the time AAE40 rolls out those cheap SOB’s at WOTC will actually give us our moneys worth. It’s a shame what they are doing to Larrys work

    • RE: Advantages Incurred from the 1940 Start Date

Ya I too have always felt russia has been the weakest of powers in the AA games, while in reality they would probably be the second strongest, if not strongest. I realize that for game playability they have to be weaker than the Germans but I hope that in the new Europe game they make russia a lot stronger than they were in the old Europe game

    • RE: Played Our First Game Tonight

It seems like there’s little reason for japan to wait to attack since the uk and Anzac can start to get ipc’s from the east indies if the Japanese don’t take them on r1. Has anyone found it to be very advantageous to wait to attack as japan? If not then why not have the game start  in 1941

    • RE: Mech units in Europe

That time of the month emperor taiki haha, you know I think that they sell midol at most local drug stores. :-D
anyways there is the Asian mainland in aap40, and it’s fairly large, you’d think mech units would be more popular there

    • Mech units in Europe

I’ve been reading a lot of people saying that they found mech units to be not very useful, and that they would far prefer to buy artillery for the same price, although the pacific map is mostly ocean. I’m wondering if the mech units will be useful in Europe even though they don’t recieve a bonus from artillery. My gut reaction is that Germany will use mechs a lot to get troops quick to the distant eastern front, or distant allied invasions. But then again there is always the new prospect of building minor IC’s close to the front. What do y’all think?

    • RE: Advantages Incurred from the 1940 Start Date

Ya I think that is true for the most part. Can you immagine how many ipc’s the US would get in the new Europe game if they made their income proportionately that much larger than the US pacific income. It would be around 200!

God I can’t wait to see the new europe map. I’ve always been way more interested in the European theater, and ive got high expectations for the new map after seeing the new pacific

How can Germany possibly take out france and be at the gates of Moscow by the end of round 3? Which would be historical if the US comes in at the end of round 3

    • RE: American split income?

I do like the idea of individual victory conditions. Maybe they could be optional. But I like the idea of the Russian player not really coordinating a whole lot with the allies, but just having common enemies to fight. I think it could make the game really interesting if victory could go to the allies, the axis, or the commintern(Russia), not saying that the allies and russians  would fight each other, but maybe the side with the most victory cities in the end would be the overall winner

    • RE: American split income?

I seriously hope that in the global game the US doesn’t have a split income. It should be up to the US player where and when to direct his industrial might.

    • RE: Get rid of the cardboard

Mr. Canuck12, you do realize that part of the whole point of these forums is for us to share our opinions on how we think that the games should be. I too love Larry’s games, but that doesn’t mean that I think they are perfect. I happen to think that the new AA40 games are going to be awesome, but I still think that it was a dick move by WOTC to include just barely enough of certain units so that we’ll want to buy more than one copy of the same games. Why not invest more into advertising these great games instead of making loyal customers pay more? I also think that people complain about ridiculous things, but I think that they should share their opinions. Plus, I think that Larry wants to, or at least should want to hear our opinions, regardless of whether or not he agrees with them, or will decide to act upon them.
