Well I played my first game last night and the Brits took Greece on their first turn. I took it back but I had to kill 6 infantry (2 that landed off transport+ 4 from Greece). So I would say for Greece, yes, that should probably be occupied, plus Italy gets a bonus from it so it helps everyone out, axis at least….

RE: Newest Setup by Larry
I think the easiest thing to say is, “If you think you can do a better job, be my guest!” I get tired of seeing people put down the game, if you are so smart, build one yourself you jack-wagons!
People need to relax and help the process. Suggest ideas, the more we can get to Larry the easier it will make his job.

RE: How long do your Global 1940 games last?
This is all good info for me, I bought both of these games on launch and still have not had time to set up Europe or Global and play a game. Plus I’m most likely going to have to buy a bigger table or fashion one myself because our dining room table just won’t fit the board. But by all accounts this is the game I have been waiting for, it sounds absolutely epic!

RE: Bob_A_Mickelson's AAG40 National Production/Objectives and Setup Charts
Sadly I will probably be playing the game for the first time with the newest Alpha + rules.

RE: So if the Alpha setup becomes standard…...
Interesting ideas, yeah I was meaning the newest Alpha, sorry. What is crazy is that I have not even had a chance to play the game at all! I guess that is why I asked to see people’s opinions.

RE: Technology is a bad strategic investment
I think Larry should change the rules for tech to this: buying dice costs 10, and you have to roll a 6 still, but you can then choose the tech you want. And no tokens either.

RE: China can become a monster
Yeah, but it basically forces Japan to annihilate China, while with current rules Japan can choose to ignore China if it wants.
-
RE: Larry's alpha plus setup
Man so the new rules really make the game that much more slanted to the Axis? Has anyone played Alpha rules yet?
No need to jump to conclusions, especially when you have to ask your second question.
I was only asking questions, from the responses it seems like Larry went the other way and made the game Axis favored.

RE: Technology is a bad strategic investment
So how did that game turn out between gamerman and allweneed?
-
RE: China can become a monster
I think that could definitely break game balance if China was allowed to roam wherever. That could really make things tough for Germany if Russia was bolstered with troops from China.

So if the Alpha setup becomes standard…...
Who do you guys think has an advantage now? Or do you feel it is balanced now?

RE: Global odds calculator?
Good point, but that just supports another reason I don’t like this calculator. It gives you results varying by up to 5%. I like a calc that tells you what the averages are, period. Like, infinite runs.
Like if you have a battleship on battleship, you have exactly a 50% chance of winning. Not 48-52%.
The misunderstanding here is the program is actually “rolling” dice and taking those percentages based on artificial dice rolls. If you wanted an odds or ratio calculator then find one that does not run simulations at all, rather just using the ratio instead. That what I think you are looking for.

RE: New Axis Strategy - Sealion plus Jap Canada
From what it sounds like that could work but I think you can’t go all out unless the US really makes a big mistake. You have to play in Asia with Japan in order to keep India out of Europe and Africa. But this is definitely viable, but you still have to have some luck.

RE: AAG40 FAQ
Open issues that have been decided:
-
Alberta/Saskatchewan/Manitoba and Central United States are adjacent.
-
Quebec and New Brunswick/Nova Scotia are adjacent.
-
You may not activate a friendly neutral territory by moving an antiaircraft gun into it.
-
In the global game, if the Soviet Union is at war with Axis powers on only one map, it is still under the restrictions of being a neutral power (see Powers That Begin the Game Neutral, pg. 15) on the other map. In other words, war with Japan lifts those restrictions from the USSR on the Pacific map only, and war with Germany and/or Italy lifts those restrictions on the Europe map only.
That Soviet rule makes sense, seems natural to me.

RE: Global Gaming Table
iv siad if before so i’ll say it again PLEASE-PLEASE-PLEASE give me some specks i neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed this table.
You know you could probably design one yourself. Since I don’t have a table large enough to handle this game that is probably what I am going to do.

Boy you are setting up jokes left and right aren’t you? :-D

RE: Japan/USSR Non-Aggression Pact
Well, if Japan invaded Siberia, Stalin already has a 2 front war, so I bet he’d save the capital rather than snowy siberia
You live in Canada right? Well imagine what would happen to morale if Japan and Germany invaded BC and Quebec, respectively? Would you be pissed if your government decided to let BC go in order to protect the more populated area?
It is not just economy and capital that matters, there are other factors that don’t come into play with the board game. You know that America was actually invaded during WWII right? The Aleutian islands were attacked by the Japanese, and I guarantee you that Roosevelt didn’t say, “Guess that sucks for Alaska.” Most people don’t even know about that, because we like to boast that we have never been attacked since the war of 1812 on our home soil.

RE: Civil war games
Really? I remember wanting that game and then I couldn’t find it for the life of me when I could actually buy it.
