RE: A&A Variant that adds a twist to the game
The ruleset is for Springs second database. We use the CD, and the CD will not allow neutral territories to be worth any ipc’s. The idea behind the neutral takeover is to control a neutral territories army at the beginning of a game. If you play on the boardgame feel free to make the neutrals worth any number of ipc’s you and your opponent agree upon.

RE: A&A Variant that adds a twist to the game
GeZe,
Yes, in Kremlin rules the lowest rated player can either pick options for axis or allies. One of these options is having neutral countries join your side. You can pick one major neutral and one minor neutral to place units in.
Major neutrals–------Units gained by having this neutral join your side
Switzerland-----------2 infantry and one fighter
Sweden---------------2 infantry and one submarine
Turkey----------------2 infantry and one armor
Spain------------------3 infantry and one armor
Peru-------------------2 infantry and one submarine
Argentina-------------2 infantry and one transport
Venezuela------------2 infantry and one armorMinor neutrals(all minor neutrals get one infantry unit placed there)
Afghanistan, Mongolia, Rio de Oro, Mozambique, Angola, Rio de Oro, Eire.
So for example if I am picking for Axis I can have Japan take Turkey and Germany take Mozambique…or if I am picking for Allies I can have Russia take Switzerland and USA take Afghanistan.
So you see I can place a Russian infantry unit in Rio de Oro. :)

RE: Roll tech
I like to take a shot at tech if I see somewhere on the board where a certain tech will give me an advantage over my opponent in the here and now…
For example,
UK has about a 50/50 odds attack on Egypt held by a combined Japanese/German force. Getting those axis forces out of there will go a long way in securing an allied victory. I look at the board and I see that two fighters that are 4 spaces away in Novosibirsk will no longer be out of range if I am able to roll long range aircraft shifting the odds to the allies favor. And if I were to roll for heavy bombers my new advanced bomber would shift the battle into my favor as well. So I look at my income and decide whether I can afford one or two tech rolls(I rarely can afford more than this.) to try to swing an important battle in my favor.

RE: Nazi Diplomacy
“Not even lend-lease?”
Nope.
“Can both German and US ships be in the same sea zone and just choose not to open fire? Or can they at least move through these sea zones without entering battle? Otherwise I would set up mad blockades”
I exclusively play the cd so these moves would not be allowed if you want to try your suggestions on the boardgame try it out. But in my opinion your ipc’s can be better spend crushing Russia as opposed to sending some German ships to the Pacific to run blockades.

RE: Nazi Diplomacy
I tried to add to these rules a bit, here’s my update…
2-Hit BBs, 3rd Ed Rules, no ipc victory, Paratroopers.
Scenario: Due to good diplomacy, Germany avoids war with the United States. The Americans are at war ONLY with Japan, and may not attack any German-held territories until A) Germany attacks any US-held territory, B) Japan has been captured, or C) Germany attacks any US ships that are alone within a seazone(see below)
Also…Russia will not allow US units to move on or over Russian soil under any circumstances. US units may “liberate” axis-held Russian territory but those units still may not move into territory still held by Russia.
Germany may attack any US units that are located on non-US held territories such as Egypt. Likewise, the USA may attack any German units located on Japanese-held territory.
Germany may attack US ships that are accompanied by UK or Russian ships but may not attack US ships that are alone within a seazone(They could, but then USA would declare war on Germany). Likewise, USA can attack German ships that are accompanied by Japanese ships but may not attack German ships that are alone within a seazone.

RE: The Power of Mongolia
An excellent plan! Especially if only Russian forces are moving against Japan. Russia just does not have the air assets to be taking back 3 or 4 territories each turn vs. Japan. Also take Afghanistan and give those Ruskies another target to worry about!
-
Some house rules that help the axis.
1. Any country that holds all three of these territories at the end of a turn gets one ipc.- Soloman Islands, Caroline Islands, Wake Island.
2. Allies do not collect for holding Gibraltar but if an axis power takes Gibraltar it shall receive one ipc per turn for as long as it is held.

RE: Take Hawaii
I will take Hawaii if and only if Russia or UK has no planes parked in Yakut. Those planes can take out my undefended trannies if I move two battleships to Hawaii and my fleet isn’t strong enough to hold back an American counter if I leave a battleship behind to defend my trannies. So I’ll hit Hawaii seazone with a battleship, sub, and fighter(and maybe a bomber depending whether or not I need it for a mainland Asia attack).

RE: Forgot how to switch file for AA
Delete the dplayx.dll file in your Hasbro Interactive directory and then reboot your computer…your computer will automatically use the correct version that is in your windows directory.

RE: Russian Strategies on this site
I like to place one of my fighters in Yakut. It gives Russia alot more flexibility on the eastern front.

RE: Italy
Couldn’t you give Italy Italian East Africa as well?

RE: How do I Play This game Over the Internet!
Spring’s version of the patch may be corrupt.
Try downloading the patch from here:

RE: Italy
Maybe give Italian infantry an attack value of zero and defense value of one? This way Italian forces would perform historically…they would’nt be able to do anything offensively but they could help out the Germans defensively a bit.
