    • RE: Allies Strategy

As Russia you need time to build up your defences and to weaken the enemy. You must pull as much infantry from the east as possible but leave a small rearguard there. I would suggest you buy some tanks or fighters quickly so you have more attacking power. You can trade infantry for losses while keeping those tanks and fighters alive as much as possible.

It is essential that Russia wears down the Germans as much as possible by giving up territories and then counter attacking. In the meantime the Allies must start knocking on the door of the Germans, so that they are forced to divert troops for defence. This will hopefully slowly give you the chance to build up powerful armies that can kick back the Germans when they really start threatening Moscow.
Whatever happens, Moscow must not be allowed to fall. You must keep always at least one infantry on the surrounding territories so the Germans cannot Blitz to Moscow with a huge tank stack.

Playing with Russia is very challenging at first, but once the worst danger is over you can really build a huge Red Army and conquer pretty much all of Eurasia. I very much enjoy playing the Russians because it really is mostly brutal land warfare with huge stacks of Inf. Tanks, Arty and Fighters. Very basic and simple, and very bloody.

      Cheers!!

    • RE: Germany Strategy

As Germany in my first buy you should buy a maximum amount of infantry, because these will be needed on the Eastern Front and for defence of the West. You are going to need them. Later when you have decent defenses, you can switch to tanks, fighters or bombers to help out with attacks or defence.

I have a pretty standard opening with Germany. I try to destroy the Royal Navy as much as possible with aircraft and subs. I also attack the three Russian terroritories while keeping most of my armour on one spot, East-Poland. In that way you have a strong center and flexibility to attack in every direction.

I dont attack Egypt on round 1. First I bring up reinforcements to make sure my attack will succeed on round 2.

And perhaps later in the game I might consider buying a factory. It can be relatively safely placed in Poland, together with an AA. In that way infantry is quicker to the Russian front. But France is also an option, but you have to make sure the Allies dont capture it. It has to be very well guarded.

I usually dont really do much with weapons research. I find it a waste of resources. If you really have money to spare buy Bombers. They are very effective in killing the enemy with long range. A very helpful weapon for Germany considering the many fronts it has.

All in all, if Germany is pretty succesfull in the round 1 without too many losses, you are in a good spot to hold out, even if the Allies go full out on you. The German Airforce is powerful and will make any attack on your important territories a bloody affair for the Allies.

      Greetz!!

    • RE: Which is better for USA?

I think the USA should always help with Germany first. Going across North Africa can help seal the Med and support the Brits in India. Use some bombers for Germany, but losing them is always a danger. I have seen snake eyes a lot of times. Support the Allied invasion with fighters, tanks and destroyers and wear the Germans down.

In the Pacific the USA can distract the IJN with building a battleship, AC and some support vessels. And start cruising the Pacific, threathening Japanese strongholds. That might buy some time to take on the Germans. Remember, when Moscow falls to Germany, the Allies are in big trouble.

    • RE: Anyone seen Italy and Japan survive for a while with Germany Dead?

I once played a great game as Allies when the Japanese were all conquering in Asia and Pacific, but failed to take Russia before Germany fell. And the SU was becoming absolutely huge with Mec and Rocket techs. They just pushed the enormous Red Army against the Japanese, while USA and GB came over sea. It took an epic sea and land battle on Japan itself before she finally died. By then the USSR was even bigger in IC than UK and USA combined.

I have never seen Japan survive against all other Allied countries, even if the Japanese armies are very big. Japan just gets outproduced in the end.

    • RE: Where to build a Jap IC

I standard build a IC in Manchuria. Its the most bang for a buck. Then later I build an IC in India as well. These combined give Japan the IC output it needs to take on the Allies and the SU.

    • RE: Strategy for playing with no national objectives? - 41 edition

Playing with NO’s is cool, but can be challenging. If without, in my view, the best strategy is always to focus on Russia with Japan from the East and do the Asian isles as a side show. Get to India as fast as possible and build an IC. Then churn out infantry and tanks and push towards Cacausus and Moscow. Germany in the meanwhile should hold its fronts as good as possible and do tit-for-tat killings with Russia for land. Use as much airpower as possible to mimimize casualties. Also hold the Allied fleets at bay with bombers and subs. Africa is not so important, but can be useful as a second theater to distract the Allies. It depends on the Allied strategy. Italy can be nice for that.

All in all Moscow is the key. As soon as the Japanese are strong enough to take on the SU, the Allies are lost. With Russia gone they have no chance in the long run.
