    • RE: 7 player global game

I would suggest using the old Anzacs from 1st edition Pacific 1940.  If you own both copies that is  :-D.  If you only own one or the other you can probably find them online and just buy the “other” Anzacs to act as your Pacific Britsh/Indian forces.

If you have an older version of A&A you could use those brits and just mark them so you can tell the difference.

I’m still cruising the forums…WWI never did get the attention it deserves.  If we get some good topics, I’ll chime in.

    • RE: Alternative Winning Strategy and Tactics for Central Powers

That is what I was trying to say earlier.  The new tournament rules open this game up a lot.  Giving the CP more options and allowing for more strategies.  Personally, I think this makes the game more competitive and fun to play…though it does detract somewhat from the WWI theme of getting bogged down and slogging it out in the trenches.  But if the game played that slow I would rarely have anyone play the games with me.

      I like your post ColonelK,

I just played my first 5 person game this weekend as the Germans and found it a wise strategy to bypass Belgium and just press hard on France with overwhelming force.  All the while holding the line in the East.  The key to this strategy though is daring raids with subs and the High Seas/AH Fleets to take out allied transports.  The CP won before America could reach Europe!
FYI: we played with the new tournament rules and the game flows much quicker and was over in a few hours.

    • RE: Balancing 1914

I agree, just played Larry’s tourney rules last week for the first time and accomplished our first “real” CP victory.  The game was over in 4 rounds and all players were relieved by the relatively quick play.  I think with the new tourney rules this game is getting closer to being one of the best A&A games.  But as a WWI buff I’m a bit biased on that point.  Looking forward to a new and improved 2nd edition in the future.

    • RE: Our play balance/realism/fun home rules - looking for feedback.

Thanks for sharing.  I’m always interested in new ways to improve this game while keeping it simple enough for a first or second time player to understand.  The CP’s are certainly in need of help.  But that help must not come at the expense of game play balance or time.  Most of my friends and family that I convince to play with me get “worn out” after a few hours.  We have waited so long for a A&A WWI game and now we finally have one, we just need to tweak it a little more to make it work the best.

    • RE: An over view of 3 games w/Ressian Rev Rules, and what is your Russian strat?

      I agree with Suvorov.

Long time reader, first time poster.  When we play it’s tourney rules and being able to move 2 spaces really helps with preventing getting bogged down in Russia for the CP.  They can send in reinforcements much quicker plus you can bull rush the Russian forces with AH early in the opening round.  You can always bleed them white (economically) by running all over the empty Russian territory, eventually the weight of your superior $$$ will show on them.
