@lt-dan well if you have any interest in adding the fascist Italy symbol and city territories later to create a new additional map let me know! I will likely grab your G40 board but would be interested in a hbg 36 style board but for g40 if you decide to make one.

@the-captain ya sure, I used the little 1/8th maybe they were smaller puck magnets, drilled into the carriers till they were flush and then put the combat miniatures deck skin over them.

@lt-dan this map looks great! Do you have any plans in the future to change the Italian roundel to the fascist symbol, or add additional territories like individual city territories like you see in hbg 36?

@barnee I have found the metal flight stands from HBG work really well, and are worth their price. They are heavy ( for flight stands) so they don’t tip over as easy. I added magnets to my planes and they just snap right into place so I don’t have to fiddle with trying to line everything up. I also can recommend embedding magnets in your carriers enough, no more planes falling off your carriers! Combat Miniatures make some great flight deck stickers that will hide the magnets as well.

@barnee thanks, I was inspired after watching Midway to do them like that, and to differentiate them from fighters for my less observant friends. I liked it so much I did my Stukas and Japanese tacs the same way as well.

HBG Yamato, early war and late war with sister ship.

After a 4 year hiatus I thought I would share some progress lol, my interest in painting seems to come and go and I usually get the bug around Christmas, this year I am ahead of it. Here are some of my latest pieces.

@gen-manstein I don’t remember I’d have to check, and no haha,. My painting seems to go through phases where I’m really into it and then summer roles around or life gets busy and I put it on the back burner. I don’t really have anyone to play with these days so getting motivated to paint pieces isn’t always easy.

Ah ok thanks everyone for clearing that up for me, I remember playing games where that was a rule but I couldnt remember what game.

Hopefully someone can help me with this, I remember there being a rule that Russia can take control of allied units in Russia, supposed to represent lend lease. Is that just a first edition rule? I can’t seem to find it in the rule book.

So the game ending in an Axis victory due to some conservative Russian play and negligence in the Pacific by the US, allowing the Japanese to dominate the Pacific. I still am not convinced that Sealion is worth it, especially when it brings the Americans and USSR into the war, if it’s attempted later in the game then it wouldn’t be so bad, but it would also require alot more IPC’s to attempt. I did learn some valuable lessons in this game though.

I generally favor a G2 attack as there are very little Russian units on the board, the more rounds you wait to attack the more infantry they can stack in Moscow, Ideally on a G2 attack you can be attacking Moscow or on the brink of attacking when the allies threaten to land. The longer you wait to attack the longer you will have to fight a 2 front war.
