Speaking of Raiders, I always wondered where Indy was hiding on the U-boat, after he swam to it. They show him on the deck of the U-boat and then you just see him on the docks of the U-boat pen. I’m probably too picky, but it would be nice to know what he did aboard the sub.

RE: Need help finding a version of AA: Europe
That’s a very interesting game board for a A&AE alternative. That would be a lot of fun if that map and Italian pieces were available for purchase. Let us know if you come across a link where these can be acquired. It would certainly add a good twist to the game.

RE: It´s here! The Enlarged Gameboard for use with Revised Edition 2004
It looks great. I love how they have pictures from the era interwoven with the board. Very impressive. I will certainly be preordering one.

They kick some serious butt.

RE: Adolf Hitler's 'lost fleet' found in Black Sea
Thank you. Hopefully I will be able to make it out to Chicago and check it out someday. I would really like to visit Germany and see the various places of battle, along with any other history preserved.

RE: Adolf Hitler's 'lost fleet' found in Black Sea
Is the U-2540 still in the US? Or has it been shipped to another country for display or storage? I would love to visit the ship and get a small feeling for what life on board must have been like. I know for the movie U-571 a working WW2 era submarine was actually built for shooting. I am not certain of the model of sub it was based off of, does anyone know?

RE: Adolf Hitler's 'lost fleet' found in Black Sea
It’s very interesting news and would be incredible if one of the U-boats was in good enough shape to possibly be raised. From my understanding there is only one U-boat left in the world that is displayed to the public and it is in dry dock. I think it would be amazing if a U-boat was made sea worthy again for studies. There are quite a few German tanks left from WW2 that are in working order and are used every year at various demonstrations throughout the world, why not a U-boat.

RE: BOTB tanks coming with Revised?
The BOTB tanks are a lot more impressive for Germany, then the tank units from older sets. I tried to order additional pieces through Hasbro’s replacement department, just to have them. However, they are not available to order on the replacement pieces page. It’s a shame, as they would be so much more fun to have then the regular armor.

RE: Russia's fight against Japan
I have sent one tank and a couple infantry from Moscow and surrounding territores into Sinkiang to help bolster the American defenses. On the Soviet Far Eastern territores I push my infantry into the only two territores that seemed the most likely spots for Japanese offensives. Sorry, but I do not know the names of the territories, except for the Soviet Far East.
From the games that I have played, it seems that Russia really should not focus too much attention on Japan. Instead just set up defenses and send all available units to the Western front.

RE: Hope after Africa or How I survived being kicked out the Dark Continent
Apparently I need to study the map a little better. I don’t own a copy of Revised and was trying to guess the distance from memory. I thought we were just talking about striking Anglo-Egypt and so I thought the shortest distance for the UK bomber would be over mainland Europe. Thank you for pointing it out though, as I need practice with the game and want to gleen as much info from the forum as I can.

RE: Hope after Africa or How I survived being kicked out the Dark Continent
My mistake, I misinterpreted the rules on Combat Movement, thinking that each unit(s) that you attack with get their on combat movement. I did not realize all are put together, no matter where you move.
I’m assuming your getting the other 2 infantry from India, via way of the transport docked there. However, the bomber coming from mainland UK will have to fly through two fields of AA fire. I wonder if most UK players would risk their bomber to get into the fray of the North Africa campaign.
-Instead of the two fighters from the Balkans & Ukraine attacking the UK destroyer, they could assault Anglo-Egypt with the units from Libya and the bomber could still participate.
-Either one or two fighters from Gemany could instead assist in the attack on the UK destroyer.
-The transport could still be moved in to assault Anglo-Egypt, provided there are other units to take a hit, in case the UK destoyer has a successful roll.Thank you for clearing up some of the rules for me. I am pretty new to the game and I am still getting used to all the processes.

RE: Hope after Africa or How I survived being kicked out the Dark Continent
I have played as Germany several times on the A&A Revised and found the following strategy to work for me when taking Africa:
-Use the fighter from the Balkans and Ukraine to take out the UK destroyer lurking near the Suez Canal.
-I use the battle ship off the coast of Italy, with the bomber from Germany, transport from Italy (loaded with 1 infantry & 1 tank) and both units from Libya to Sack Anglo-Egypt. The battleship should knock out one unit without any problems, leaving just two to contend with. I then land the bomber back in Italy for the campaign against the Causcasus.
-On Germany T2, I purchase one Industrial Complex and place it in Anglo-Egypt. This might be financially risky, but it allows me to dominate Africa without having to constantly transport troops & armor from Europe.
-You won’t be able to place new units until T3, but there should still be enough units in Africa to hold out until the Panzer cavalry arrives.
-I also realize diverting two fighters and a bomber from Europe can also be risky. However, you should have plenty of units to reinforce the line against the Russians and to take Karrelia. That is my strategy for taking Africa thus far. Let me know what you think and if it is helpful to anyone.

RE: AARHE 1939 Pictures ( of actual printed map with pieces)
I like how you have all the different territories that actually played a part in WWII, giving it more realism. I am looking forward to Axis & Allies Delux already and hope it will be a big and engulfing set.

RE: AARHE 1939 Pictures ( of actual printed map with pieces)
Wow, that map looks incredible. Is this a map that you came up with for your own games? Or were you inspired from another source? It definitely would make for a lenghty game, but full of so many more possibilities.

RE: New to AA- need quick start!
Thank you very much. That clears up a lot for my gameplay. Now, I’ll have more units available for combat actions.

RE: New to AA- need quick start!
On a side note about begginers to the game. My buddy keeps insisting that you have to leave at least one unit in your starting territories to get the IPC’s from it. However, when starting as Germany on A&AE you have three different territories, such as Vichy France, that contribute to your total IPC that you do not have a presence in. Units that are in those territories are sorely needed in other spots of the board.
Also in Revised the rules state that you can blitz through a territory with a tank, claiming it for your IPC value, as long as there are no enemy units in the territory. I am led to believe that you only need to maintain a presence in a enemy territory that you have conquered to gain the IPC’s. However, your starting territories, excluding industrial complexes, you don’t need to have any unit there to collect it’s IPC value.
Thank you for any and all feedback. I just want to make sure that I have the IPC/territory values correctly figured.

RE: Using Germany's Mediterranean Navy
I have played as Germany several times in A&AE and I believe that it is important to take out the UK Mediteranean fleet and the fighter at Malta. These units can mostly be taken out in the first turn, clearing the way for you to start landing the Wehrmacht into Africa, opening up the oil rich middle east. Besides giving you more IPC’s, which come directly out of the Allie’s pockets, you can start to move up and threaten the USSR from their Southern flank. That will eventually relieve some pressure on your forces fighting in the Western front of Russia.

RE: What should I choose ? A&A Revised or A&A Europe ?
I am fairly new to A&A myself as well and to this forum. But I personally like A&A Europe better. I prefer playing as Germany and I find that A&A Europe is a lot more challenging playing as Germany, than A&A Revised, as it should be. Although, they are both a lot of fun. You really can’t go wrong with either.
