An IC in Anglo Egypt is the only one that makes sense, in my opinion. Africa is worth 12 IPCs per turn. If Germany, by buying an IPC in Africa, can hold Africa for an additional two turns, the benefits outweigh the cost, so it’s a good choice.

RE: Free-for-All
The US – it is impossible for any country to attack them without a navy. If Japan wants to attack the US with a sizeable force, it’s going to take at least three turns, and the US can easily defend, making such action unreasonable. Meanwhile, the US can take the Canadian territories pretty easily from the British, move all their navy into the Atlantic, and go into Africa, possibly with an IC in Brazil. The British will slowly have their IPCs taken away by the Japanese in Asia and the Southeast Pacific, and should pose no threat to the US’s landgrabbing in Africa. The US is better positioned to exploit Africa than the Germans, who have to concentrate their IPCs on Russia, while the US has no country to attack it via land. For the Japanese, it would be unreasonable to think of attacking the US when such an attack is doomed to failure, and there are many poorly defended territories in Asia for Japan to exploit. Germany will be focusing its efforts mostly on Russia, and possibly Britain. However, they cannot build a sizeable navy for a couple of turns, by which time the US navy will dwarf its German counterpart, and stop any action in Africa. Once Germany and Japan destroy Russia, they will start fighting amongst themselves, while the US can just wait until the most oppurtune moment to strike.

RE: Would the Allies win without Russia in the real war?
What infantry? The ones fighting for the beaches? Yes, the Allies did have air superiority, but they had not destroyed AA guns. They just had air superiority over enemy aircraft.

RE: Is the current size of the US military too small?
Well, then you say how much good the US did in WWII, because our opinion has changed.

No, I’m pretty sure that the French didn’t help us at all during the Revolutionary War. And surely the Statue of Liberty wasn’t made by the French!

It’s good that we’re divided in the respect that it’s bad if we were united in the war in Iraq, the War on Terror, etc., not in the respect that we were united against it.

So it’s a good thing we’re divided.

We don’t need a bigger army, we just need to not go to war as often.

RE: Would the Allies win without Russia in the real war?
Yes, that is a possibility. But it would be fairly risky. The Germans had tons of AA guns, which could have easily shot down a sizeable part of the aircraft. Even then, they didn’t know where the tanks would have been, so they would have had to search for tanks that may or may not have left Pas de Calais, and face tons of AA fire. Hitler did finally send the tanks, when the Allies had consolidated their beachheads, and when there were more Allied aircraft around. Most of the tanks made it there, although late. The planes were used to bomb transportation lines mostly, not actual tanks. I doubt anyone would take the risk to send planes to scout for German tanks coming to Normandy from Pas de Calais because of the risky nature of the mission, because they thought that they had thoroughly decieved Hitler, and because they thought that transportation lines had been sufficiently damaged. It probably would have been quite possible to send some planes, but the Germans didn’t send the tanks. A lot of planes would have been lost for nothing. I would think that they should’ve sent more planes to the beaches to help the Allied invaders.
