Does anyone know how to get a copy of Don’s ORIGINAL 3rd essay? The abridged version on www.fresservers.com only contains the first two parts (see the outline on freservers.com). Years ago I read the full thing, but can’t find it these days. It talked about getting the Japanese fleet into the South Atlantic, how to analyze when to use it to deter South Africa, when to dare to attack Brazil, thoughts on a submarine-producing Industrial Complex in the South Atlantic, and even considerations regarding the use of Germany’s first (alternate) turn purchase of a bomber?!, along with other air units, to coordinate with Japanese fleet. I wish I had saved a copy! Can anyone help me find it?

You should probably start playing with bids to help out the axis.  You seem like a pretty good player who is ready to move on.

Quite frankly it doesn’t matter what Russia does on R1 (straight up) the Allies are going to win the game.

For the sake of argument though, I’ll Retake Man (heavy), probably take Chi, and do a variation of Pearl Lite.

The Reason bids should be considered is here is a typical R1 turn

1)  Attack Ger sub with Rus sub (either win or chase off ger sub)
2)  Kill Ger ships in baltic (2 ftrs, 1 trn)
3)  Strafe/take Ukr
4)  Strafe/take Man (or just reinforce yak)

There is just too much damage you can do.  Russia is far to powerful when played right.  Hence the need for RR with a 9-12 bid or just a 21-24 bid game.

Allied ftrs CAN defend, but they CANNOT attack.

A typical scerio is a UK 1 AC buy with the US landing 2 ftrs on the AC on US 1.

This Navy is all but untouchable for the Germans b/c the US ftrs defend with the Brits.

However, moving the UK AC on UK 2 to attack say German ships off Spain, the US planes can indeed be taken as loses but not fight offensively in the battle.

It is no different then land combat,
multinational defense - yes,
multinational attack - no.

USA should help but it is not a priority usa does this by sendig its eastern fighter to the most western part of africa it can also send its bomber but that would be unwise (you can probrbly geuse why) :lol:

The basic stratagy is to get your men of the island and counter an allied factory in India. So you need more transports to get everything done…

Everything seems pretty standard for an Allied victory, but with Russia, I am passive in the Far East.

Yes, tanks and infantry can shoot down planes. The defender/attacker chooses any unit as a casualty. Hope you enjoy the game.

I AM NOT SAYING ROLL ALL DICE FIRST TURN.
I am just saying that even though there is a risk in buying tech, don’t ignore it!
I usually roll tech when I don’t need an extra tank or inf next turn as Japan, US, or UK. Not all turns, not everything on one turn; one or two dice here and there throught out the course of the game.
