European (global) National Objectives as revealed by Larry so far

In fact soviet NO has more sense that seems … if USA goes the fossile way and tries ignore Japan, Japan will take Siberia and allies will not benefit the big soviet NO as they do in AA50. Also, it prevents a gamey Germany leave Poland ungarrisoned or traded to try a early Sea Lion
Those are few NOs however, I guess there will be more
Setup will be key here: if is well playtested, this game will be perfect. If not, it can be an utter failure
And will be corrected with the bid system.

UK Bonus- Awesome. Creates a little cat and mouse game in the Atlantic between German subs and the UK destroyers. Sure, Germany can try to “hide” a sub somewhere but with naval bases now that’s not going to be easy. Any rule that soothes the tendency for giant naval arms races in favor of small skirmishes a good rule IMO.
USSR Bonus- Pretty good, a lot like the American one in Pacific. It will make the game end faster once the writing is on the wall, +1 tank per German territory.
German Bonus- Almost as good as the UK bonus. A little bit of decision making on the part of Germany thrown in, the Russian loot pinata will have to outweigh the bonus to justify Barbarossa.

I wonder how many turns Russia will have to wait to declare war if Germany decides not to attack.

@Larry:
However, it is important to point out that Russia cannot attack a Euro Axis until its turn 4. This is not to say that it can’t be at war with the Euro Axis before that moment. That depends on whether or not they are attacked by them.…
That’s a quote from Larry from the Fact Sheet thread. Looks like they have to wait at least 4 turns, and they’ll get the most complicated political rules of any of the A&A countries.

When Russia are about to start getting their bonus Japan will just have to take 1 territory in Russia and it ruins it.
Also, Italy’s NOs could inlude-
Gibrulta+Malta
No allied ships
Middle East
Egypt -

So this will anchorage a siberian invasion

Japan will only need to make a token attack on Russia as their real incentive should be to take out India and eliminate UK IPC’s in the Pacific theatre.

Yea that and keeping an eye on the sleeping green monster across the pond.

Yeah I killed India, oh crap where did you come from. With UK out of the way, ANZAC should fall easily, and then they can keep an eye on USA while they chip away at China.

All I mean is landing 2inf in Soviet Far East or whatever its called, not a full scale invasion.
I don’t know how commenwelth income will work.
If I was making the game I would make sea lanes between AUS-UK, CAN-UK, IND-UK, SA-UK and if these sea lanes were kept clear that area (AUS,IND etc.) could transfer some of their income into the UK, or vice versa. Each sealane would have a maixium income which is the most IPCs this sealane could take (eg IND-UK=10IPCs).
These could then be blocted by a navy or be bombed. This would then provide an encentive for the Brits to keep the Med and the Atlantic clear.
And one of the things I’m most looking foward for is the battle of the Med between ITY and UK, because I think whoever controls that will control North Africa, Egypt, Suez and the Middle East.

Larry did say that there will be like 18 Russian units on the Siberian front. It won’t be that easy for Jap to take that one Soviet tt. Say Jap takes a Red tt with a token force, Russia will just take it back on its turn still collecting its NO. Early in the game Jap will have its hands full trying to destroy China/UK, I don’t think they’ll be picking another fight. Latter in the game if Russia abandons Siberia then yea Jap will start its march.

Does Japan have to actually take a territory or just attack one thus declaring war to affect the NO?

Russia gains 5 IPC’s if:
1. It’s at war w/Germany
2. It holds archangel
3. The archangel convoy is not disrupted
4. There are no other allied units on original soviet territory -

That wasn’t a list of 4 NO’s. It’s one NO which is gained when all 4 conditions are met

Why is archangel important to the Russians?
-
Why is archangel important to the Russians?
Given that Germany has closed the Baltic to Allied shipping, and the Italian navy makes access to the Black sea treacherous at best, Archangel represents the best (only?) major port to receive Lend/Lease goods, while also being accessible to the USSR’s primary centers of industry and military concentration (e.g. shipping goods into Siberia doesn’t do anyone very much good).

I belive some NOs should be-
RUSSIA
The Archangel one
The 6IPC oneGERMANY

There are lots they could haveControl of Med

I think the addition of convoys will make the naval part of the game play out more historically.
The Germans don’t have to “arms race” the UK and US plus France navies to have an effect on the game navally, they can do what the Germans actually did in WW2, which was send out lots of subs to cause economic damage to the UK especially. I’m guessing there will be convoy locations all along the coast of Africa and all the sea zones around Great Britain, so by spreading out a bunch of subs through different convoy zones they can suck income out of the UK without being required to take over Africa to do so. And spreading out the subs will cause the Allies to have to produce more destroyers at 8 IPCs to subs at 6 IPCs to pick off all the subs everywhere that are sapping the life out of the UK.
The only thing the UK could do to try to prevent Germany from sending out 1 sub per turn would be to try to blockade the Baltic, which has always been dangerous in previous versions of A&A because it puts the navy in range of the German air force.

UK
Representing both the percieved and actual threat of the German U-boat fleet on Allied shipping
5 IPCs if no german submarines are on the game board
I like the fact that the UK’s NO is tied to German subs. I’m not to sure about anywhere on the board though. The Baltic will be a German harbor for the most part w/new straight rule. Those subs should have to be out in the North Sea, or anywhere in the N or S Atlantic causing havoc (even if their not in a convoy sz). You shouldn’t be able to just launch them into your own harbor to stop the UK from getting a bonus. I don’t mind having to chase them down as UK (could see some sea battles along the Americas), but they should be a threat, not just hiding in the Baltic. Of course that would put a rather large bulls eye on Denmark and the Baltic fleet. When they say anywhere on the game board are we talking about the Pac side as well (global). You shouldn’t be able to send a German sub to hide in the Jap navy either. Just just my opinion.
I think the addition of the German NO for having a sub on the board and the addition of convoys will make the naval part of the game play out more historically. The German NO will pretty much allow Germany to purchase 1 extra sub a turn while they still have a surviving sub.
This is a UK NO, and convoys would take $ away from UK. Germany would not be getting the ipc bonus for having subs on the board.
