Need help matching colors

I’m currently building my Global War set, and I’m painting a lot of pieces to make pieces of a certain color that are not available. (i.e. Orange submarines). I’ve found good matches for most of the colors, but I’m having trouble with two sets in particular:
-Classic Japanese/HBG Yellow Gold
-Revised UK/HBG Celery Green

Has anyone found paints that are decent matches for these color pieces? Can be spray, or brush on paint. Don’t have to be perfect matches, just close enough that you can tell what nation the pieces belong to.

After reading the threads, I figured maybe this way would be best to find an artist who can help. I’m looking for someone to help our monastery finish it’s customization of AA Global 40 and possible help, with what is necessary, on the pieces for Global War 1936…… the more intricate, the more monks like games like this. We have lots of pieces that are donated and pretty interesting. We would be more than willing to give the leftovers away. The “Ratte” Landkreuzer P. 1000 tank is my favorite. We have 3

Valejo has all WWII paint you can imagine. Most of them are even named, for example: German Camouflage Red Brown, German Tank Grey, Afrika Korps Sand Yellow, etc.

For example, all you need to do is decide which year you want your Luftwaffe units from - since Luftwaffe colors changed during the War depending on which season (Summer or Winter) and Theatre of War.

Luftwaffe paintings are named RLM and then a number, for example RLM 65 or RLM 65 A (grey).

As the War progressed, various camouflage paintings became less available due to shortages in general.

Most Tank models in Late 1944 and Early 1945 were from the production line painted overall Tank Grey since this paint was still plentyfull.
This color was also perfect for City Fighting.

Frontline units needed to repaint their equipment with everyrhing they could find or capture from the enemy.

I use waterbased paint from Valejo and acrylic paint from Humbrol.

After painting is dry, I add multiple layers of Matt Spray Varnish for further protection against wear and tear.

Using lacquer on HBG's pieces to match OOB luster?

If you are really looking for a good finish on all your HBG pieces, you could buy a couple small cans of differing lacquers and test each one. $20 should get almost 3 cans worth. It may be a waste to some degree, but at least you can know for sure which one works best.

I have a flat Testors lacquer/sealant spray that I used on Tall Paul’s finished pieces. Granted, these were painted first, so the effect may be thrown off. However, I will say that I did not observe any level of gloss on the HBG or OOB pieces after I applied it. It was quite flat as advertised. FWIW.

Correct me if it wouldn’t work but how would a small piece of heat shrink tube go if you only want to extend the barrel?I don’t know if it would work, just an idea i had……

Sorry for the late reply, been busy again and havent had time to meet up w friends and play. I used acrylics to paint the pieces, easy stuff.to use and cheap.too, Michael’s is a good place.to buy some. I used a spray on glossy finish om the pieces themselves. The hardest units to paint was the infantry, so many details on them, straps, satchels bags, canteens boots and rifles, that takes lots of.time. the easiest units was the ships, just paint all grey, let them.dry then fill in the details like the deck and a roundel.
