First off, if you have not checked your calendar, Origins is
ONLY 5 weeks away.
Now, I have had a few requests, questions, concerns
regarding the Event # for events I will be running at Origins. The
easiest way to help solve this problem is to give you a copy of all the events
and the event numbers as I see it. I am NOT really sure why they were
printed as they were (another Origins goof?). But one only needs to buy
tickets once for whatever event. For AA mini/WAS, you only need to buy
one ticket as well. They just list it several times and you can join in
the fray anytime during the weekend. The same does with the Opens.
I believe what they were doing was trying to give you a choice of when to play
and it carried over into the Mega Tournament, etc. Which it should not
have?
So, in short, the tournament schedule and #’s are:
Mega Tournament; Friday, 5 pm(Event
#3929)
Guadalcanal Tournament; Friday, 10am (Event #3648)
Battle of the Bulge Tournament; Thursday, 2pm (Event #3302)
My suggestion is, if there is still confusion on anyone’s
part regarding the number, sign up for the cheaper one and just show up when I have
the times listed on the attached Event sheet. That is when I plan on
starting all the tournaments…
Another question was asked regarding playing solo in the
Mega Tournament. This is a three round; round-robin, three round SE
tournament. I will only accept single entries if the tournament will lend
itself to having singles. Meaning, the tournament has room for 32
players. If it is sold out and all 32 players are present, then you would
be paired up with someone. If you do NOT want this to happen, buy a
ticket for your friend and have them as a partner…Simple. If not,
then you will be paired with someone, again, only and only if the event is sold
out.
If the event is NOT sold out and there is room for a few
singles, singles will be awarded by first come first serve availability at the
CON at registration time of the event. I will begin registration for
tickets for the Mega Tournament at 3pm on Friday.
I know that some of you have complained in the past about
this policy but think about it, if there is room to accommodate 32 people in a
tournament and people travel to play in the tournament, I will NOT turn someone
away because some doesn’t want a partner…sorry.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
