Thanks, that makes sense, I think our confusion came about because we forgot that when fighters attack defenseless transports there is an actually rolled out battle, it’s just that it isn’t done to save time. Which in this case is applied to the sub to keep rolling if there are further rounds of combat and then depending upon whether there is an air victory by either side (transport sunk either way) or if there is a retreat before the sub hits (transport survives).

Naval/Air Battle Clarification
Hi, can someone help clarify how this battle would play out?
we had a naval battle the other day that also
involved planes. Attacking bomber, two fighters, and a sub against fully loaded carrier and a transport.
After a few rounds of combat, all that was left on
the attacker side was 1 sub, a fighter and a bomber. The defender only
had a transport and two fighters….our question was…
At what point does the naval battle end and the transport is destroyed?
Is it right after the defending navy is destroyed? Or does another round of combat need to
be initiated? Does the sub have to roll on the transport? Or is the transport immediately assumed destroyed after
the carrier is destroyed and the remaining battle is between the fighters? Thanks for your help in advance.
