What I want to know is why any UK player would prefer to go after the Italian fleet rather than try to save Britain from Sea Lion???  What German player worth his salt would not prepare for Sea Lion on the first turn???  Yes, the UK can defeat that Italian fleet, the Italians will take Egypt(primary objective secure), the rest of the Italian fleet gets sunk, Germany gets about 29 IPC’s on turn 2(invasion turn) in addition to the 17 from France turn one, and UK can no long build anything.  France is gone turn one, and Germany gets one turn to prepare for USSR using its, France, and UK’s IPC’s.  Let the Italians play, get the French fleet out if you can.  Just try to save Britain, PLEASE!  Why is this so hard for people at this site to figure out???  Why the target fixation on the Italians?  I dont get it.

Because that carrier is better used to keep the Italians from dominating the Med.  UK cannot afford to produce ships AND land assests to defend against a sea lion, and grouping all your remaining ships up so that they can be scuttled by the Luftwafte isn’t really a great plan either!

As it stands the UK attack on SZ95 is a no-brainer in terms of weaking the italians position in the med, hopefully long enough that Britain can reinforce Egypt with units from India, preventing critical lose of IPCs to the Axis while your continuing to build land units in the UK proper.

This has been discussed at GREAT length is several previously existing threads.
The general consensus is that it would weaken the European UK significantly as Canada is really its only source of stable income.

However, do to the likelihood of a successful Sea Lion attack on UK shores, it may not be a bad idea to implement Canada as a seperate power this makes taking the UK less valuable to the axis and also keeps some of the IPC alive on the allies side.

But in all likelihood Canada as a seperate power leaves the UK with a mere 22 IPCs or so and they will lose territory in Africa and probably get convoy raided by the germans, so they might reliable have 15 IPCs a turn, which isnt really enough to defend themselves or take national objectives.

IF you wanted it to work, perhaps a good suggestion would be to give the UK a starting bid of about 20 IPC.  This gives the UK a stronger starting position with which to build a defense around.  This leaves Canada free to use its IPCs in whatever fashion, preferrably to assist the UK.

keep in mind even if by some miracle France does survive G1, it will not survive I1, period.

What is really crap is how little the UK starts with in their capitol.  You figure if they are already AT WAR with germany, they would keep themselves actually PROTECTED!
Honestly I would rather have one less destroyer for 3 more infantry in the UK.
