Another alternative to attacking Egypt is to put 6 units next to Egypt (2 from transport, plus 4 already in Africa) in RD1 and purchase a carrier. For protection you can fly in Japanese fighters from the pacific carrier in RD1. As long as you take out British destroyer & cruiser in Germany RD1 you will be able to funnel troops to Africa.

RE: .
One thing nobody has mentioned is that you can fly the british fighter onto the US Carrier in Hawaii. I am not saying I do this every game (I usually do this if Germany fails to take Egypt). But if Japan is your target, forcing Japan to split its forces up can cause something to go wrong for them in one of the battles. I always use the carrier to take out the transport, and I run the cruiser whatever direction gives me the advantage. Just my 2 cents…

Question on - Destroyers from "friendly" countries in zone with attacking planes
Ok… here the scenario…
Rd2 Britian moves its battleship and purchases (Carrier / 2 Destroyers) to seas zone occupied by German sub. When the US goes later in RD2 they attempt to attack the sub with a bomber (sighting that a “friendly” destroyer is in the seazone). Is this the correct interpertation of the rules?

RE: USA Open ideas
Buy 3 Carriers with the USA in the 1st RD if you are planning on going after Japan. Then buy 3 fighters in RD2 so that you have 6 fighters on the carriers (very strong defense, & mobile). USA buys 5 subs & a transport in RD3 and then leaves port… The whole point to this is that you slow down Japan by forcing it to buy boats to protect it’s fleet. The USA can reach Japans seaszone with 6 planes from the USA coast… landing back on the carriers in the seaszone next door.

RE: German Bombing Strategy
That is an interesting idea. I am going to try it out this week and see how it works. I like the fact that you are thinking outside the box. I hate when game moves become stale and guys are robots.

RE: Russian moves to start game
Thanks for all the replys guys… But I am wondering if Germany attacks the British BB/transport in the first RD ? It sounds like everyone basically allows Germany to take out the fleet. Thoughts anyone?

RE: Russian moves to start game
Ok… I gotcha
Usually we attack Norway with 3 inf, 1 tank & 2 fighters so as to not allow Germany to take out the British battleship (since it can’t land in Norway with planes anymore). We also move the sub in with the British battleship/transport. The other attack is the same (West Russia) with all guys and artillery. We realize we are sacraficing a Russian fighter, but it lands next to Norway and stops Germany from blitzing two countries up top. We also hold back the Russian tanks so that Germany can’t destroy them with tanks/fighters right out of the gate.
Purchases vary for Russia, but they usually included a replacement fighter or 2 and an artillery. Or a fighter, 2 guys & 2 artillery

Russian moves to start game
Hey guys,
I am new to the site, but I have been playing A&A for almost 20 years. In reading throught the posts, I have not seen any similiar first RD moves for Russia that the guys I play with use. What is the “standard” moves you guys like to use at the start of the game?
Thanks in advance
