The last word is a set preliminarily titled “The Late War” MIGHT be coming out in 2012. Wizards of the Coast, the manufacturer, seems to be winding this game down, as it is pouring resources into a new game - Angels 20 (an airplane miniature combat simulation game) seemingly at the expense of AAM.
Is that airplane game set in ww2 by chance? I’m intrigued.
I don’t know about this. Heavy bombers flew at high altitudes and could not make attacks in such close proximity to friedly troops on a map of this scale I would think. I could see them attacking one half of the board and hitting randomly a string of around 4 hexes.
I will say ad the owner of a substantial German Army, the rules for the Stuka were disappointing with that planes power and ability to make precsion attacks. The damage done according to the stats is not a fair representation of what that plane could do. Should have been a rule about intimidation with the plane. Especially the Ju-87’s that used the siren of Jericho.
Yes I LOVE the grizzled Veteran… and the wherewolf partisans I have yet to get. I’ve lost an entire battle by being ambushed by partisans!
But alas! No stores carry AA miniatures anymore and I have no one to play with anymore :-(
I miss this forum. It’s been a year since my last visit. GOD how I miss it.
I must admit that the war was lost at this point. The Germans could have regrouped and closed some of the pockets that caused supply disruption but the bottom line is: Germany could not replace their casualties and Russia could. You kill a million Russians, and they send 2 million more. The Battle for Narva is a perfect example of the superiority of Der Waffen SS. But this battle was slowly lost due to Soviet numbers. Sheer numbers.

Well it says once per game you can declare a speed boost and the results of the combat are resolved immediately. I have NO idea what this means.

Hitler was the main problem when you bring up the interesting topic of “Liberators over conquerors.” That’s what most Russian tows viewed them as in the beginning but the Enzestsgruppen units quickly ruined relations with their exterminations and other atrocities. Those units wore a uniform almost identical to the SS with the main difference being the collar patches were not the same and they were not allowed an honor band around the sleeve.
To almost any civilian, this mistook them for the “SS” who, in the beginning, were more than willing to treat the Russian civilians fairly because of the help they were giving. The Luftwaffe felt the same way. Hitler and Himmler however were behind the continuation of war atrocities. Hitler would have died at some point soon and if he was assasinated things could have been far different.
That’s all speculation but in my opinion, if a man like Rommel would have been successor to the Fuhrer after an assasination, the German war effort could have gone a completely different direction since Rommel was a pragmatist and in no way anti semtatic. Hitlers successor Goerring was also not anti-sematic and under the influence of his wife who had many Jewish friends, secretly helped jews out of Nazi occupied territory and spared the lives of some in custody.
I believe the real problems withing the Reich affecting the war effort were Hitlers and Himmlers diabolical insanity and the lack of a cognitive, centralized leadership between the Weihrmacht, Navy, Luftwaffe and the SS.
Could someone please clarify the rule of “speed boost” for the Dornier German aircraft? I don’t fully understand how this is beneficial. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, the P-39 is an american design, however it was the Eastern Front where the majority of P-39 saw combat. The Russians loved the P-39. The P-39 impact on the war was with the Soviets.
