I’ve had a game or two where the USSR get’s KO’d and the UK/US have to try and pry a victory out of the jaws of defeat.
In that context, I could see a scenario where Germany is going so hard after the USSR and the middle east that the Allies manage to actually prop up France and get her back into the game.
But if USSR is still alive when France gets reactivated, I would agree that Germany is probably already cooked; in that case, I’d still be interested if France could do anything interesting on the Pacific board :)

That was a costly error. After I started over to change my purchase, I failed to click the fighter/bomber from FIC and went into it with 2 less aircraft. I had options with them after, but…

That could have been a complete disaster. I would probably have had to try and beg for some merciful concession, but as it turned out I can just eat the mistake.

I can only answer why I do it.

(1) Why leave Paris empty?
Allies don’t gain much from taking it unless they can hold it. It expends the once per game 12ipc of French troops, if they are killed straight away, seems a waste. Every originally French territory reverts to French control. And if you’re playing G40, allows a second plunder of Paris.

(2) Why leave Normandy French?
I actually stopped playing for a while in large part because I think this move is cheesy, ridiculous and unsporting but no one was as annoyed by it as I was. I actually saw it in my first G40 game where I played Axis but I thought later that I must be getting it wrong. I think now that I wasn’t wrong and while it may not be a complete game breaker it is still a game damager. I developed “Parisian Rebalance” in response to this but few where really interested. I am interested in a 2.0 of same.
