This is aimed at Axis players as I play Axis exclusively. I have a tough time coming back if the opening Soviet move is successful. I build the standard 11 Inf and 2 Arty trying to max out units and build up Byelorussia but I feel like I cant get the right mass of strength before Germany is getting besieged on the Western front. It seems to easy for Allies to pack Moscow with stacks of fighters so any attack is like a buzzsaw. Curious how you recover from a successful Soviet opening move.

Season 2 Rant
Genco Harris mod is purported to make things more balanced, I have heard players say even with that Axis have a big advantage. Just not seeing it. The Dice rolls on the attack for the Axis are absolutely laughable, and defending die rolls for infantry are damn near not miss. If my tanks and planes cant hit with 3’s, then Axis has no chance of winning. Christ my Battleships and bombers miss with a roll of 4. It is too easy for Soviets to just trade territory with Germany keeping its IPC income up and bleed Germany to death. Japan is so easily contained, you must do Pearl Harbor attack, otherwise the US is just going to put a factory on Alaska and you are in a naval arms race that you will ultimately lose and you can put zero pressure on Allies. Season 2 has been ridiculous so far.

@quintin I expect to lose the opening battle when Russia attacks with 12 units in West Russia and 9 in Ukraine. However it is the extent of the loss. When you see time after time zero units lost or one unit lost in West Russia and then Ukraine where there is a fighter parked as well as a tank you see one unit or two units lost by Russians it makes you wonder. I cannot attack Trans jordan where there is one guy without taking a casualty by that infantry if I take it at all. Japan’s opening attack on Anwhei when do you ever take it without a casualty as Axis? The hit rate of defending infantry is amazing, that is except for Russia turn 1 when the Wermacht must be sitting around smoking and joking as Mother Russia steams in.
As I have said time and time again when the hit rate for defending infantry exceeds or approaches the hit rate for tanks, and fighters there is a problem. In a multiple round battle, trading territory thing, I cannot tell you how many opening round rolls that every fighter will miss. The next round one or two hit, and then when the battle is all said or done, and you are not taking the territory because you just lost your last infantry, every fighter will hit. It happens time and time again. Tanks and fighters do not hit their weight, and forget about battleships who cant seem to hit a damn thing.

@windowwasher If those were the exception I would completely agree with you that it wasnt too bad, problem it isn’t. As I said earlier in the post and repeatedly in my criticism of the dice in this game Tanks, fighters, cruiser, Bombers and battleships miss way way too much in comparison to infantry on defense, regardless of infantry on defense they miss way way too much. That isnt a one time thing, a two time thing, it is a repeated thing, 3 fighters missing 3 rounds happens way to frequently. Yet I laid out a comparison before of the typical Allied attack on German Battleship and Transport in the med after a successful Trans jordan attack (meaning there are no British ships attacking) two fighters and a bomber on the battleship and trans. It never fails, almost never. Should the attack be successful odds wise, yes indeed it should. However watching my fighters miss more than they hit round after round, it is amazing to me that this one attack almost never fails.

How is it that AA guns hit so frequently on a 1 and Battleships miss nearly all the time on a 4??
The miss rate on Battleships is crazy, in my latest game, three times I have sent two battleships to bombard, and the miss rate is 100%.

@brian-cannon Has anyone else also noticed that subs are hitting defensively on a 1 an incredible amount?? in 1st round of a game I am in now, Soviet sub hit twice and on Japan attack on Pearl US sub hit once. Meanwhile my 2 fighters, Bomber and cruiser hit once, and my Japanese sub missed in first round of rolls

@moonzar How is your sub destroyed? You should have Japan’s defense profile set to subs submerge. The only thing that can attack it before your turn is a British cruiser and submarine, neither can prevent your sub from submerging. The only unit that can do that is a destroyer. You are needlessly losing your sub if you dont change your defense profile.

@marineiguana Boston, I expect to lose the battle and lose the transport and battleship, what amazes me is that the attack never goes bad, they never lose more than a bomber and I have never seen the Axis units survive. As opposed to the Axis attack on Sea Zone 7, this just occurred
