Rush was arested or detained (i can’t remember witch exactly) in Florida about 6 months back for being in posession of a few too many perscription pain killers.

I guarantee I didn’t oppose the old picture I thought it was rather pleasant and looked forward to seeing it when I logged in.  If Jen puts the bathing suit pic back up I’ll put a pic of me in my bathing suit up… wait that may not necessarily be motivation…

Hmm, didn’t know that.  Must not have been news worthy cause I read the Chicago Tribune and USA Today regularly, and didn’t hear of it. :P

Anyway, I dunno how long a life this thread will have.  Should be interesting to find out though!

I find it hard to believe you folks never heard about this.

Rumors started to come out in 2003 that there were criminal investigations regarding his drug use.  Finally, later in 2003 he admitted on the air that he was addicted to pain killers and was going into rehab immediately.  Reports stated that the woman who turned him in said he had bought “more than 30000 hydrocodone, Lorcet and OcyContin pills,” and that he “took as many as 30 OxyContin pills a day.”  This is not just “being in posession of a few too many perscription pain killers.” This was serious drug trade of a huge amount of opiates. They also tried to get him on “doctor shopping” charges but I think he eventually cut a deal and just went for more a more extended rehab program and such.  Helps to have enough money to buy good lawyers, I guess.

Of course this comes from the man who once said on the air “if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be convicted and they ought to be sent up…What [the disparity in arrests] says to me is that too many whites are getting away with drug use. Too many whites are getting away with drug sales. Too many whites are getting away with trafficking in this stuff. The answer to this disparity is not to start letting people out of jail because we’re not putting others in jail who are breaking the law. The answer is to go out and find the ones who are getting away with it, convict them and send them up the river, too.”

I’ve never met a prolife atheist. Why do you think killing a twoday old fetilized egg is just as morally wrong as killing a 30 yr old mother of 3? A fertilized egg has none of the qualities that we assicoate with “personhood” (consciousness, memory, rationality, empathy, etc.), so why is terminating it as wrong as killing an adult that DOES have those qualities we identify with personhood?

Anyway, as for Rushy, as I said, I don’t care if you want to be a druggie.  So if, and I use the word strenuously because some people are not all that good at remembering their facts correctly, IF he was hooked on pain killers (which, IF happened was probably due to being prescribed to them and then getting hooked, that’s usually how it happens) I have no problem with it.

I also don’t have a problem with Spitzer utilizing the services of talented young ladies.  I think all these man act laws, etc are just men who do not want women to be free.  It’s a method of enslavement by removing a woman’s right to do what they want with their body.

Then again, I had nothing wrong with Larry Craig either, all he wanted to do was use the public restrooms!  (Even if he was there to pick up a date, it’s still his right to have sex with any consenting adult he wants too!)
