@gamerman01 This was of course very unfortunate since dice were rolled, although incorrectly. I think if the bomber hadn’t been shot down we would’ve simply neglected that roll which means we should probably do the same in this scenario.

I’m not sure what you mean.
I’ll give up on the Leningrad to Ukraine thing.In Triple A I moved a bomber to Leningrad, a bomber to Stalingrad, and 2 fighters to Ukraine to escort.
The bomber from Gibraltar couldn’t reach any of these targets, and was left on Gribraltar in my combat move.
In other words, I think my combat move should stand. The dice rolled were exactly on that combat move. The forum die roll was because I thought I could hit Ukraine with Gibraltar bomber, but that is impossible. So I’m leaving everything as is in Triple A.
I made the mistakes/confusion, so I’m leaving the damage in Leningrad and no damage for Ukraine. I forgot to move the bomber from Gibraltar, so I’ll just leave it there.
Unless I’m forgetting something, that’s basically just leaving everything as is in Triple A. The forum dice don’t count because it’s for a SBR that I wanted to do, that wasn’t even possible.
I understand if you want to protest any of this, we’ll just have to get an agreed-upon league player to mediate since there is no other moderator.

The forum AA doesn’t count because it was rolled after the MARTI AA’s for the other 2 bombers and because it’s impossible for a 3rd bomber to fly over any of the Russian IC’s.

@gamerman01 What I meant is what you wrote above. Had your bomber not been hit with the forum dice I believe the conclusion would’ve been the same, that we would ignore those dice due to the illegal move.
What I want to state though is that under normal circumstances forum dice must have the same “authority” as AA dice, if you will. I don’t want forum dice to be questioned in circumstances where they were rolled in a legal way. Does that make sense?

Yes, thank you, I’m relieved because the whole thing was a bit confusing and it was my fault. I don’t want there to be any misunderstanding between us.
I’d like to take this opportunity to recap in the interest of coming to the same understanding.
Forum dice absolutely have the same weight as MARTI, I completely agree.
I caused some confusion when I left combat move with 2 fighters as escorts over Ukraine in Triple A with no bomber. So I thought, oh, I meant to have the Gibraltar bomber there (see PM sent to you at the time).
2 in game SBR’s, MARTI dice rolled automatically for each.
You said no intercept, so I rolled on forum not knowing the move was impossible.Forum dice disregarded for 2 reasons - they were the latest in time, and they were only rolled because I thought I had a 3rd legal SBR which I did not.
Thanks again for talking it through!! Cooler heads prevail.

Because this is all from my slip-up on the combat move, I’m just going to leave the damage on Leningrad and not ask for Ukraine.
I’m also not asking to move the bomber to a different place from Gibraltar, although that’s a good position for it anyway. :hushed:

Please say if you don’t think this is fair.What I mean is, the bomber effectively did nothing during the turn, when it could have supported battles in the Med or could have moved somewhere else.

Alright, this is a tough call, but I’m going to resign now.
It’s hard to do that when I have so much material and several important bastions that I think I can hold for some time, but your extremely defensive and methodical strategy with virtually no over-sights means I will not be able to win.
We both know I have to take something back and hold it to have a chance. You’re too patient to take any meaningful chances, it just takes me tons of effort and you don’t bite because you don’t have to. This is what the planes do for you, and why you buy them - you like the strategy of taking what you need and protecting the gains. You don’t need to take Moscow or India fast, you just get enough income and a circle you can protect, and wait to starve them out.
Now I know your style. I’ve never seen it before. I am very experienced in stopping fast and aggressive Axis - a large portion of my experience is from playing a single person who always tried that, and also was always looking for gimmicks and surprises - it’s what he loved about the game. LOL goes to show why you should scout out your opponent if you know he’s really good. Eh, I don’t have the patience for that.

Glancing back again at UK1, I notice a few more things going on with that ill-fated attack on 95. Although I’m not in the situation anymore, I see
Attack on 95 with no losses, carrier has to go to 93. Now I really don’t want Vichy, so reinforce South France with INF/AA as well as Normandy (so the French fleet doesn’t disappear)
For some reason I didn’t hit Ethiopia with 4 ground, cruiser, so those 3 units come up to surround Egypt. Of course, the 2 planes on the carrier in 93 get destroyed by the Germans and couldn’t fly to Egypt. Only the tac and the bomber on North Africa could, but with +3 Italians from the South and a transport out of the picture, it wasn’t enough.
Round one is critical!

Glad to hear I managed to beat you here. Much to thank the earlier rounds of course.
You are right, especially playing Germany. I have been in situations where I take Moscow quite early but surrender the west, may it be Normandy, Norway and thus not managed to get the win.
I am surprised though when you say it’s the first the you encounter it. I thought it somehow played into every decent/good player’s main strategy unless there is a need to take a risk somewhere at the right time?
