That’s a better idea, especially since Japan is usually somewhat stretched to the limits on their declaration of war on the US.
Strategy Guide Global 1940

Lol forgot Trprts defend at 1 rd 4 on. Just lost a Ftr on a casual kill lol
-
Hope that disaster was for the Allies! Japan better be doing well.
-
@superbattleshipyamato heh heh nope Mitsubishi Ftr got shot down by ANZAC Trprt. Those Trpts D1 rd 4 are game changers too.
Every game gets better for rule retention. Nothing like losing a Ftr to make you remember the rule lol
JPN doing pretty good but their Aryan Allies are fckn up big time lol
-
I hate The Captain’s new victory conditions now! It basically invites a KGF, with the Axis victory depending on capitals, which, like in Axis And Allies 1941, are all in Europe. One of the best things I liked in the original 1940 version was that victory cities are a way to win, making Japan something of a threat, making Allied strategy more interesting and complicated-now, all Japan can do is help achieve an economic victory, which in any case is not enough for Japan to help win the game by itself. It should have been a collected total of victory cities on both sides if you don’t want the idea of the Nazis being dead but Japan winning, and increase the amounts as well (I am not a fan of that, but I know some people are). I like the economic victory conditions in addition to victory cities.
Now “hate” is a strong word, but I’m just a bit unhappy how hard for the Axis to win in Barnee’s latest game, where if the Nazis are in trouble, Japan can’t really save the game.
-
@superbattleshipyamato heh heh it’s not over yet. What’s needed is a new Sky Marshall and a new Battle Plan lol
Last game JPN attacked Russia and was a major force until the trprts bug came up. Woulda been an Axis win probably
-
Truly a Masterpiece you guys have come up with Captain.
This is basically the first full game I played. Start of Rd 11. Getting ready to activate Takeover of Italy. D-day be close behind. After that, everything will have been done at least once. Yea a little late to the party, but hey, I just got here :)
Probably roll with a 43 test Game next, if all goes well.
1 major bug and a couple minor ones on recent test game. Then just some cleanup to make it more efficient. Probably a week or so depending on what I find with Italy and D-Day.
I’ll do a Game report when done. Probably shoulda done an update, but triplea got history, so were good :)
Those LCVs pretty sweet. Coming around on the Escorts too. Good blockers and D3 as long as you got a trprt and they D1.
Anyway, well done.

Takeover Complete
Italy no longer has any turn.
-
Does Germany get the Italian dough before they Purchase ?
The procedure is like this:
On Germany’s turn in the Purchase & Repair
Units phase, all Italian sea units, land units, air
units, AAA, Industrial Complexes etc. must be
replaced by German units of the same type.…
The Italian IPC are immediately handed over to
the German player. The German player must
immediately pay 5 IPC to the bankEdit
Guess this should be in the Rules section :) -
Wow, that Takeover of Italy really Boosts Germany. Worked good too. Just need the extra Rail movement and boost the Para and LCV max builds and should be there. All the extra dough showed up.
Oh yea and a Notification Late 43 ? rd 7 when it’s an option, even if conditions aren’t currently met.
Anyway, Good stuff. I like it. A lot more people are gonna die though. Allies better not pussyfoot around. They still have the upper hand but logistics are still a problem and JPN is strong.
They need to concentrate intelligently or it could get away from them. Doubtful though :)
-
Fantastic - and once again, thanks for your enormous effort with TripleA.
Concerning the Italian IPC:
When Germany takes over Italy, this is what happens on Germany’s turn:- Germany announces the Take Over of Italy
- All players check if conditions for Take Over are fullfilled
- Germany pays 5 IPC to the bank
- All Italian units are switched with equivalent German units (except Mines)
- Germany collects all Italian IPC
- Germany starts the Repair & Purchase Units phase
-
@the-captain sweet that’s what i ended up doing. Just wanted to make sure. That extra dough sure came in handy : )
-
I hope that the Axis win!

Right arm :muscle: Rd 12
This is so much fun  Those little Escorts really Rock. Only had a few games where they were active and I ignored them, but the last two been using them.
They hit at 2 always on D and 3 if you got a trprt. They block. All sorts of good things :)
Those LCVs really Rock too. Definitely needed more Landmines in W Europe, but I always was buying something else. Think it’s probably best to focus on what you wanna do and buy stuff for that, instead of all the cool stuff you can buy.
Panzer Armies are sweet, but it takes a Big effort to keep them intact. Almost better to hold off a turn and concentrate with fodder, but once battle is joined … sometimes you gotta just go.
I’m a low to intermediate Global player and I play against myself, mostly just testing peoples house rules, and some games go either way, but this one still got some life lol Allies Should win but it’s fun finding out.
D-Day only thing I really haven’t tested yet. It’s basically an Edit thing, so should be ok. Uncle Sam still in the Med, so be a bit, but I think i’ll still test it anyway with a small invasion if necessary, maybe lol
P
Edit
Oh yea those Trprts hitting at 1 are sweet too. Can suicide for island attacks, or any really, and it’s not a gimme they die. Requires more resources to kill, or some will live. Either way, Good addition.
-
Yea the Reich not looking too good. Got that mini boost from taking Italy but now …
JPN still strong but failed counterattack in Soviet Far East against American Expeditionary Force could be troublesome.Russia facing some serious pressure but Allied counterattacks should help the Rodina to survive.
Idk if I’ll do D-Day or not. Wanna fix the issues and well … maybe next time lol
it’s not over yet : )
-
What American tank is that in Southern Italy? It looks different from regular tanks and the US only has one type of tank. Thank you!
-
What are the usual Total War buys ? I’ve been going Fighters and Tanks mostly. USA did Bombers early but didn’t really have anyone to support. They came in handy later but probably shoulda waited a turn or two on the buy.
UK did Artillery for LCV Commando/Elite attacks but only for one turn. Can’t afford itLotsa fun  Rd 14 JPN. Been some cool battles with Russia. Those commisar corps are big on defense.
Got schooled by a Waffen Para. It took lenningrad and destroyed Red Air Force counter attack. lol I like the Paras. Requires defense in depth
Anyway back at it :)
-
Total War purchase naturally depends on the overall strategy.
The Soviets would most likely produce Tank units.
Remember:
In Early 1943 the Total War rule is available. The Soviets would then build 3 Tank units for 12 IPC (Soviet Tank Mass Production) and another 2 Tank units for 10 IPC: total 22 IPC = 5 Tank units + 1 free Tank unit (Total War rule). In addition, the Soviets get 1 free Tank unit - if Urals is Soviet controlled.
-
Wow! 22 IPCs for potentially 6 tanks! That makes a tank less than 4 IPCs!
-
@the-captain yea been buying tanks with Russia. Less than 4 bucks a piece. Screaming deal
-
Paratroopers are awesome! I’m thinking of using them as German reinforcements in the Mediterranean, as it’s quite hard to move troops through transports (I usually like to have Italy capture Southern France, but maybe things will change in the future), and air transports seem to cost a bit more. Of course, paratroopers can also be used in combat, as you said.
