Do not assume casualties in 97, thanks
FMERommel (X) vs ArtofWar1947 (L+16) BM3

Good grief, I forgot to move the ANZAC DD to SZ 38.
Scramble ANZ fighter and two UK fighters.
-
1 sub hit
-
7 more hits, I chose 1 CV hit, need 7 more. (2 less hits than expected, not good for me)
-
Did you get my email?
If not, sink two wounded CVs (additional hits 1-3), tilt the third CV (hit 4), and sink the 3 subs (additional hits 5-7).
-
10 hits second round. I was sitting by computer reading paper and didn’t get notification for triplea or email notice. Terrible turn.
-
Not sure what you message means. 10 hits by Allies on Japanese or 10 hits by Japanese on the Allies?
-
You need to select 10 casualties
-
@FMErwinRommel
Sink the 3 reamining ships (wounded CV, DD, CA), 2 Tacs, 3 ANZ fighters, 2 US fighters. -
you also have 3 U.S. DD’s you can take before planes
-
@FMErwinRommel
Overlooked the DDs; yes take them out before planes. Max defense. -

Borneo was the most lopsided dice possible on the first round: 0-6 vs 3-3. Sea battle off of India was calculated at 96% with 11 units left and +57 TUV. Turned out to be 4 units left with -4 TUV. You can sink my BB’s on your turn.
-
I concede the game.
I would have needed very good luck to offset the opening loss in France. But the sea battle favored the defender again and this time I was the attacker. Had to try to make something happen. -
Boy, that was brutal, I feel sorry for you :(
Axis position looks lost at this point I am afraid. Position in Europe is beyond hope.
-
Borneo was the worst possible luck for the Japanese. But perhaps not as costly as the first round of fighting in SZ 39, where the Allies scored 12 hits instead of the expected 7.
-
Thanks for an interesting game. You made a good fight of it despite the terrible bad luck by in France in Turn 1.
-
If Indian sea battle went as predicted and Japan kept its BB’s CA’s, 2 loaded CVs and took Borneo for total income of 73, it could have given Allies a challenge. Japan advance north would have kept China at bay, although couldn’t have destroyed Chinese army if China had held. Would have had to choose destroying Chinese army or defending Yunnan.
-
Posted game result. Always enjoy playing against you. It was probably not a good time to have tested a new strategy of Japan opening without building a northern IC in China when Russia massed in Amur and would not be under pressure from Germany because of lose in France. I’d be interested in a non-league game using paratroop tech and units as standard play. Would be easy to implement using paratroop tech rules. It would be more interesting if allowed without still having to amphib invade with tt and ground troops, but that’s not possible. The Med isles would be more in play with paratroopers.
-
I agree that, if the dice were true, the situation in the Pacific would definitely have been more challenging. However, with much of the Japanese fleet out of position for the next turn, the Allies ipc advantage, and constant attacks on the Dutch Indies, it difficult to imagine the Axis winning. This assumes, of course, not making another major Ally mistake.
I’d like to try the paratroop tech some time in a non-league game. However, I need to concentrate on not making major gaffs in my league game right now.
-
Agreed, the Japanese would have continued to tie up Allied forces but couldn’t win.
