Is there any way to buy extra miniatures?

In this situation I generaly take my time building troops in the ratio of 1Bmb - 2Trn - 4Inf

I usualy drink several celibratory beers and when I have enough troops to take the island in one battle I go for it. In the mean time I strat bomb. I usualy don’t get in a hurry, just make sure you have some good tunes playing and the beer is flowing freely.

Africa will provide about 3X the ipcs each turn that India will.

And don’t forget that the African Ipcs are most likely to be German rather than Japanese. It makes a big difference to have Germany at 30-33 as opposed to 39-42. 3ipcs(India) makes little to no difference to the Japanese in the grand scheme of things. I see big problems with a Japan first strategy primary among these are that Germany can get too big and walk through Ukr, Cauc and eventually take Karelia. If there are no masses of Allied troops preparing to take WEuro/FinNor then the Allies are in big trouble even if the push against Japan is succeeding.

I agree this is something I’ve never seen in a RL game. Maybe vs. the comp but even then…

Any invasion of North America proper with the exception of Alaska can be sniffed out pretty quickly. If the Germans are buying transports also that tells me they aren’t buying lots of inf, which means they aren’t worried about the Russians which means Russia is kaput which means the entire Allied game plan is pretty much kaput (economic victory usually follows caputre of Russia).

As was said above this, if you can somehow get things going and time a joint Japanese/ German assault where it would split the American ability to defend, but even then you would have to have a lot of troops since they can pile up 7 INF/ turn with only W and E USA.

Germany completely whips out U.K.'s navy (except the transport in the India Sea Zone) – this would require the use of the entire German navy and air force. This would stop U.K. from being able to build the carrier or the transport … and in turn – U.S.A. could only bring over the 1 fighter and the bomber (both would have to land in U.K.).

Just because Germany destroys the UK navy on G1 does not mean that the TRN and AC cannot be built on UK1. If after G1, Germany has 3-4 FTR and 1 BMB, I will still make the buy. 3-4 FTR, 1 BMB vs. 2 TRN, 1 AC, 2 FTR (plus any potential russian boats) is good enough odds for the Allies. Especially with the potential to hit several German aircraft…which will never be rebuilt. The Allies can always build another fleet the next turn.

The only time I will not build the TRN and AC on UK1 is if the entire Germany airforce is intact and All of the Atlantic UK and Russian boats are gone. This rarely happens.

Yeah, cable modems are the best… Just upgraded from dialup after 2 years of hesitating… I knew that once I got one, that was $40 per month for the rest of my life, as I’d never go back to dialup…

I’ve been following your games with Cystic Crypt and Darth Maximus (until it ended anyway)… Very well played, on both counts… I certainly still have a lot to learn… And I’m interested by your opening in your current game with DM… I’m looking forward to seeing it played out.

They would still be sunk in the first round. The best efect this would have I think is to possibly delay the attack on the german med. fleet and delay the Americans one turn from hitting africa or europe.

I agree that it is foolish to buy anything other than infantry for some time, but I do like to strafe at the begining of the game; it allows me (Russia) to have some control over the front. Not feeling in control is probably one of my worst enemies.
