As the Axis, I beat Wizmark with a strong Italy supported by the Luftwaffe. When your Euro Axis rolled over Brit in the Med and Germany built in Greece, I thought I would do the same. But the fleet situation wasn’t the same. I hadn’t consolidated the Brit fleet and you didn’t need to build in Greece until mid-game. I should not have built so quickly in Greece, but maxed mech inf in Germany. I should have risked letting UK attack Italian fleet, since it would have been weakened in battle and away from protection of its airbase. And UK might have ignored the Italian fleet and taken islands or less likely, N. Italy or Greece. I could have taken Greece or N. Italy back if UK had taken them. So now I have this big cash investment in Greece, protected by a big military force.

Yes, Greece is pretty secure, and your facilities there will likely serve you well later in the game, but now you have to protect them, which is also costly. You will have some interesting choices to make on your G4. Each game is different, but we learn from each one, which is what makes this game fun.

Seems like nobody in Belarus wanted to fight. Germans rolled better, altho the battles were small and insignificant, so not crucial. Years ago, if Russia moved in force to the border with Japan, I’d hold back lots of troops and planes. But now, especially with BM3, I know an unprovoked DOW is costly for Russia, and Japan has the resources to contain any invasion.

My intention was for Japan to build ships in turn 3, to guard my new island empire in turn 4. But with the potential Russian invasion, I built 2 transports and troops. Now, I find myself stretched thin maintaining fleets in Java and Phil.

The AA curse continues. Losing a bomber on its maiden bombing run makes a big difference from being shot down on its 4th-6th run. Now UKPac can build without repairing. Now I’ve got more transports than I can use, so losing one to you on your turn won’t hold me back. But I need troops, DD’s and subs. Luckily for Japan, the U.S. only has 2 ships in the Hawaii/W.C. pipeline. I used to put more emphasis on troops in China, with early factories and armor. Now I’ve learned that as long as Japan can project power from centralized locations; it can tie down the Chinese and Indians.defensively.

Letting the Allies get a foothold into the Med & Europe via Gibraltar, was a problem that I saw, but because you did such an excellent job of consolidating, that I didn’t have the resources to oppose it. Also, Egypt never had many troops, but its still out of reach. UK’s African troops can move or be convoyed back to Egypt next turn. 4 UK Transports!
