On a more serious note, maybe the most pissed, dramatic long-range naval move I’ve seen was a bounce of the entire US Pac fleet from dispersal position in the PAC, to Hawaii to Gib via a harbor in Panama.

Now that isn’t a globe trotting movement, but in terms of force position, it’s an eye opener.

Also, one of my favorites, the German stack in pursuit of the Allies after fall of Moscow does a left turn and takes out India.

Otherwise, there are all sorts of little units that zip around the board to little consequence.  French fighter from UK in Australia?  Who cares…  8-)

  • Had a game one time with some early bloodshed in the Middle East that allowed an Anzac infantry to walk into Iraq or Persia. I begged my opponent to build an IC there.

Soviets taking French Indo China has happened a few times.

  • The ANZAC fleet sometimes does crazy things like head to S. America, followed by a journey to Africa, heading up to the Middle East, and then concluding the backwards-Magellan ~9 round expedition in Queensland.

Heck, I’ve seen the little ANZAC fellas penetrate deep into the USSR, as in Timguska deep.

  • Haha waiting for the obligatory “Totally had Japanese infantry in Iceland one time online.”

“And the game wasn’t over yet?”

    French infantries liberating China! :-D

Not one of my games, but I think I’ve seen that on the forum.

  • One of the funnier things I’ve seen in a game is Japan controlling Paris along with Italy controlling London. As for Germany… It had pushed into China and had about half of it.

We didn’t know what happened, but it was funny.

A few other things I’ve seen

    • Germany had Sydney
    • Italy had Washington DC without Africa
    • Japanese Sub by the West Indies
    • US Marine unit made it to Paris by going through Russia(He walked there)
    • Russian sub Circumnavigated the Globe and returned to SZ 127

I once had a game where ANZAC forces managed to take Greece and Yugoslavia from the Germans.  That was a weird game.  The US Navy had sunk all the Japanese Navy and had Japan cornered on their island.  However, Japan was still really strong on the mainland.  Calcutta was in Japanese hands as was all of China.  However, all the islands were in Allied hands.
UK and France, which had been liberated and had a fairly strong army, were putting pressure on Germany, Italy was out of the game but had a couple of planes and a few men in Berlin, while the Germans were pressuring Russia.  Moscow had held out but barely since most of their territory outside of Moscow was in Axis hands.
If I remember right, the Allies finally won when the US put together an invasion force and took Denmark, allowing a UK invasion force to slip in and take Germany.  France attacked the strong German force in West Germany and while they didn’t win, they weakened it enough that it couldn’t retake Berlin.
All those tanks in Russia couldn’t get back to Germany in time and Moscow got a break. After that, the Allies finished off the Germans and went around Asia mopping up the Japanese forces.  Between convoy raids and SBRs, Japan wasn’t making nearly as much as they should have been with all that Asian territory so they couldn’t keep up with the steadily increasing Allied wall that marched across the board.

Geez, how long was the game? 5 Years?

    @GeneralHandGrenade:

Actually back when it was British North America, Quebec was known as Lower Canada. Ontario was Upper Canada because they were further up the St. Lawrence River. That was back when we were burning down your capital. Fun fact; the reason it is the “White House” is because you couldn’t afford paint after we burned down the original building so all you did was whitewash the new one. The name White House stuck after that. Due to the ominous nature of the Rhode Island Navy we would never be able to pull that off now. You could paint it pretty much whatever colour you want now and there’s nothing we could do about it.

    Fun Fact:

If you took all the Chinese, lined them up 4-abreast and marched them into the Pacific Ocean… it would never end… I guess that’s because there are so many Chinese, and if they knew they were marching into the Pacific Ocean they’d be wearing bathing suits, looking kinda sexy and reproducing in the back of the line…

Conversely, if you took all the Canadians, lined them up single file and marched them into Lake Eerie… it would take like the afternoon to complete. So I say… “What are we waiting for? lets get the process started in Canada!”.

I never trusted those Canadians… 3,000 miles of unprotected border… one word from the Queen of England and they would all come charging down to invade America.

I don’t think the Canadians have the technical No-How to even get together to even consider the Invasion. They’re too drunk on authentic maple syrup!

Is that like the Kansas Naval Reserve?  At lease Minnesota has a substantial body of water nearby…

I heard there is a battleship in south Dakota…I wondered how this happened until it was explained that it is just the OUTLINE of a battleship in concrete since they scrapped the actual thing and SD has sea-envy

There is a Pegasus class hydrofoil in Missouri…I wondered how this happened until I saw that they took the unarmed hulk of a hydrofoil, towed up a muddy Midwestern river (like all the way up it, up 3-4 rivers…), dumped it at an long ago abandoned and decommissioned river naval base, and then left it parked there for a few decades.

Rhode Island?  Where is the island!?!?
