@the-captain JEALOUS…
Nation- (and City-) Specific Victory City Markers
-
So…A question for you all. Should I make the cities I’ve already uploaded available for sale now? Or should I wait until all of the minor cities are completed?
Personally I’m planning to wait until the whole set is ready before ordering them, but that doesn’t have to be the only option available. Having the completed pieces available right away won’t prevent the people who want to order a whole set from waiting to order a whole set – but not having them available will prevent the people who want to order a partial set right away from ordering a partial set right away. So the option which would satisfy everyone would be to make the completed pieces available now, in my opinion.

I have to agree with CWO Marc. You always want to have options in sales. I plan on getting a whole set, but the next person, may not want the whole set, so I would make them available now. I hope that helps. :-)

As soon as they are available I will buy them. I have the capital markers but would love to include the rest of the victory cities as well. My group always get together on holy/Easter week. I would love to include them this year.

**Ossel,
––First, thanks for your excellent work on these CAPITAL & VICTORY cities.
----Secondly, it’s an easy thing to ask your “Shapeways Designer” to offer these units in different groupings in order to best market them to the customers, us! He gets paid a portion of each sale so will be interested in maximizing the total sales.
----I personally would advise, even REQUEST, that you offer these units in the following ways:COMPLETE SET---------All of the Capitals & Victory Cities.
CAPITAL CITIES SET----All of the Capital Cities only.
VICTORY CITIES SET----All of the Victory Cities only.
INDIVIDUAL CITIES------Each City available separately.----I think this would fill the needs/wants of all customers,…and would maximise your sales.
----Although I plan on ordering ALL of these units,…I also want to order a set of the Victory Cities ONLY as I’ve already got a set of Capital Cities that “Allworkandnoclay” has painted for me. I’m in the middle of getting some quality pics made of them, but you can ask “R DiStefano” and “Zhukov” as to how they look because we used them in our last two G-40 games.Congrats on this well detailed, usefull project!

I just went to Shapeways looking for the city markers. The only ones I could find were:
Washington DC
London
Paris
Berlin
Rome
Moscow
Tokyo
HonoluluWhat happened to the other cities? I couldn’t even find Warsaw or San Francisco and I saw you already had markers for them.
Also, is there any progress on getting an entire set?
-
Here is a link to the set I bought.
Contains the following pieces:
Japanese Imperial Palace (12mm wide x 9mm long x 15mm tall)
St. Basil’s Cathedral (Russia) (14.5mm wide x 12.5mm long x 18mm tall)
German Reichstag Building (15mm wide x 14mm long x 8mm tall)
United States Capitol Building (19mm wide x 9mm long x 9.5mm tall)
Westminister Palace (United Kingdom) (21mm wide x 14mm long x 17mm tall)
Collosseum of Rome (14mm wide x 13mm long x 8mm tall)
Sydney Harbor Bridge (4mm wide x 20mm long x 7mm tall)
Taj Mahal (17mm wide x 14mm tall)
Eiffel Tower (9.4mm wide x 22mm tall)
Arc de Triomphe (11mm wide x 6.4mm long x 11mm tall)Where did you find Honolulu?

Nevermind these are ebard’s models.

has anyone here picked up any of ebards aircraft or ship models? if so how are they for detail and or painting? I was interested in some of his US carrier options. thanks
-
I have all these models. They are nice but too small for my set. They were too small to drill holes into and place magnets. I was afraid they might break. I still have them all if your interested PM me.

The following ships I used since they were bigger. I used the Scharnhorst class BB 1/4300 for UK Cruisers. I think they stand out much better than the OOB version.

Here is a pic of the Scharnhorst class BB 1/4300 painted
The Essex is on the far right in this pic but out of focus. I wish I had a better picture of it.
-
yeah its too bad you didn’t have a better pic of the Essex class. So the other ships you tried were too small. that’s my biggest hesitation with these is the scale, texture, and detail. Which is why I like HBG cause they take care of all of that….you just have to have the patients of a monk for the sets to come out lol.
do you know any other shapeway developers that have any other good moulds that would fit A&A??
-
The HBG US expansion set is supposed to include an Essex Carrier but who knows when that will ship. The other ships could have been used but the carriers just seemed too thin for planes. I guess I could have drilled them. I use a larger magnet for the carriers 3mm instead of 2mm. If I can put a magnet in a German sub I can put a magnet in anything, lol.
Sorry, I don’t know any developers in Shapeways but I’m considering developing myself.
-
I don’t want to hijack the thread but I’ll just briefly mention that I can customize my Shapeways pieces upon request. If there is interest in larger or wider versions of any of my models, such as the carriers, just shoot me a message here or preferably on Shapeways and I’d be happy to give it a go! Just let me know the dimensions or scale that you want. I’m also happy to create magnet friendly versions of my carriers if there is interest in that; I presume all that would be needed is a certain diameter and depth hole on the flight deck?
Thanks,

Thanks,
EBard––As I have orderred dozens of Ebard’s designs let me say that I am COMPLETELY SATISFIED with his designs and find them to be EXTREMELY DETAILED. I say this with the understanding that I have always orderred my units to be produced in FROSTED ULTRA DETAIL plastic. In SHAPEWAY units, as in life, you get what you pay for.
––Also, there have been several of his designs that I wanted, but they were in the wrong size (proportion) for my use in A&A gaming. I simply sent him an IM on the SHAPEWAYS site asking him if he would re-design them in the size I wanted and he did so rather quickly. It was 1/700 Fighter aircraft re-designed to 1/500.
----On another occasion, I noticed he had a design for a “Drydock” and I mentioned to him that if he would completely re-design it into a “Shipyard” and offer it in a group of nine units it would be useful to any gamers in HBG’s GW-1939 game. He did so and I bought them (pics below).
––In summation, his designs are well detailed, and he has hundreds of designs already done, is a nice guy and is willing to “work with you” in re-designing units to the size you want. 5 STARS!
THANK YOU Ebard!Tall Paul

Tall paul,
Do you have any of his units painted and in your stock? if so could you share some pictures? Im really interested in making the shapeways jump. Also, what units did you yourself order for your games, and do you have any other scale recommendations? particularly the carriers, as I have all the HBG expansion set and supplement set carrier pieces, but find them a tad too small, particularly for tactical bombers on the decks.
thanks

––JWO1984 & others,
----First,…let me say that although I already have the CAPITALS set by Ebard, I will definately buy the CAPITAL & VICTORY CITY set which this thread is about whenever they are finished and available as I think they are completely different.
––Second, So as not to “hi-jack” this thread, let me just list some “links” to threads which discuss the topics you inquired about and already have the pics posted;
Naval Shipyard……Specifically designed for use in HBG’s Global Warfare 1939 game

Your models are awesome. Still plan on doing the minor cities?
-
Bob77,
I got an email today from Ebard and he plans on finishing out the set of city markers. This is great news as he does great work! He said he needs a few weeks if not months to complete the set, but that it is in progress now. -
That is good to know. Any word on the ones Ossel was working on?
