• My choices for the FMG German pieces (Including some, such as Heavy Bomber, which will probably not actually be produced by FMG for the final release):

Tank #1: Panzer IV Ausf. F2/G/H
Tank #2: Panzer VI (Tiger I) Ausf E.
    [Self-Propelled Artillery: Hummel]
    Mech.Infantry: Sd-Kfz 251
    Truck: Opel Blitz 3 Ton
    Artillery: Any
AA: Any (Bofors for all nations would be fine with me)
Fighter: FW F-190A-2/3 (BF 109E would be OK, but prefer to replace OOB here)
    [Jet Fighter: ME-262]
    Fighter-Bomber: JU-87B Stuka
Bomber: HE-111 (any early variant) or JU-88A
    [Heavy Bomber: JU-89 or JU-390]
    Air Transport: JU-52
    Carrier: Graf Zeppelin class
    [Light carrier: Seydlitz class]
    Battleship: Bismarck class
    [Pre-war battleship: Scharnhorst class]
    Cruiser: Admiral Hipper class
    Destroyer: Type 1936/1936A
    Submarine: Type IXB/C
Transport: Any WWII design, but it is NOT necessary to use a post war design such as the Westerwald class.

I think that each nation should certainly have a generic/non-nation-specific piece for minor and major industrial complexes, naval and airbases, and possible railway terminals. I hope that these pieces feature actual structures (at least the industrial complexes) and are not just chips with icons on them.

In addition to tech pieces for aircraft, and self-propelled artillery and light carrier pieces, I would truly like to see a pre-war and wartime BB for each nation. I feel that this would be very useful for houserules (particularly for smaller-scale tactical games such as AA Guadalcanal), and would allow for both iconic modern BB’s and well-used pre-war BB’s. I realize that there is a limit to what FMG can do for a reasonable cost, but these would be my BB choices for each nation:

    Italy:
    Pre-War/Older: Andrea Doria Class
    Wartime/Modern: Littorio Class

    Germany:
Pre-War/Older: Scharnhorst class (only other choice would be the useless and tiny pre-Dreadnoughts Schlesweig-Holstein and Schlesien, which had been downgraded to gunnery school ships by WWII anyway)
    Wartime/Modern: Bismarck class

    Japan:
    Pre-War/Older: Kongo class
    Wartime/Modern: Yamato class

    France:
    Pre-War/Older: Bretagne class
    Wartime/Modern: Richelieu class

    USSR:
    Pre-War/Older: Gangut class
    Wartime/Modern: Sovietskya Soyuz class

    UK:
Pre-War/Older: Queen Elizabeth class (Warspite profile)
    Wartime/Modern: King George V class

    US:
    Pre-War/Older: Colorado class (Colorado/Maryland 1942 profile)
Wartime/Modern: Iowa or South Dakota class

  • no not even. totally different.

  • I would like one of the german infantry men to be carrying a panzerfaust.

I kinda like the bf 110 as the tactical bomber although i suppose the stuka is more iconic

what about the nebelwerfer for german artillery
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtSTMYGEyaM

I also like AG124s idea for light carriers and pre-war battleships

  • I know most people want the sd.kfz 251 as the german mech inf, and it may be the most logical choice, however WOTC has already made one however crappy it may be.

    I kinda like the sd.kfz 251’s little brother the sd.kfz 250

I think its pretty cool looking, and given that the Soviet and Italian mech unit will be an armored car and the UK piece will probably be a bren carrier the 250 may be more visualy appealing and recgonizable since it is more compact like the other mech units than the 251.

    just a thought.

  • TripleA '12

Yeah, I’d be cool with that. The 250 is a neat little machine.

  • FMG, will all sets include a commander with Infantry?

  • Customizer

I still think the Panzer III is the better choice.  The Panzer IV is too close to the Panther (both had 75mm guns) which is already in the WOTC inventory and the Panzer II is too light.

We are using the Panzer III as one of the Tanks.  It was the most common light/medium tank in their arsenal.  It is already being sculpted and we will present these Sculpts soon, just like we did with ITALY.

  • Panzer III…awesome!!

  • Great! nice early war tank ( or mid war)

  • I love the Panzer III as a tank choice.

I can’t believe the level of attention that you pay to the A&A community.

We really appreciate it - thanks Jeremy!

  • Here is a smattering of piece ideas:

    Fighter - FW 190

    Transport - JU 52

    Bomber - FW 200 Condor

I’d like to see a Hummel as well.

One request - go easy on textures with the JU52 - just mold the shape of the plane, it is recognizable.

  • I guess Germany goes after Italy, but after that what?

Japan or USA are my choices. Then Soviets, UK, and French + neutrals in that order.  USA is especially acute because of the flying saucer P-38 thing and the dreaded looking tanks and artillery.

USA should have marines as second infantry and perhaps airborne. Soviets in winter greatcoats with that iconic hat as well as standard “Ivan’s got a rifle with 5 rounds and cap” look.

British get both shorts for desert look and long pants for d-day look

Japan might get standard AA pose, and alternative might be japanese marines or ?

I’d be happy with the extras set (airbases, naval bases, Major/Minor IC’s).  The individual country pieces I can wait on, but these pieces I want soon so I can get rid of the cardboard.

After Germany I want to do the USA

  • How are the pieces going to be Sold?  Are they going to be Packaged by Country?  I would perfer packaged by Catagory.  Or both.  Discount if you buy the Whole Country, however if you would like to order by Catagory, then a person can purchase Trucks (which you will receive Trucks for all countrys) or Air Transports.  I am sure there are some of us out their who do not need anymore INF, Fighters or Artillary.

As everyone else I to am excited for the finished product and will purchase them no matter how you package them.

  • By country.

If FMG tries to slice and dice too much, there is too much work involved.

Actually, that would be a really cool idea if you could get all the different trucks, or all the different tanks, or all the different Tac bombers in one set.  I agree that it seems like we drown in infantry yet don’t get enough of some other units.  Still, like reloader said, it would be a lot of work to keep track of all the different kinds of sets.  It may also be cost prohibitive since I believe they way FMG gets the pieces is by country.  So, if they sold sets of just certain unit types, they might end up with a ton of other types that people don’t want or just have too much of already.  So they end up running out of tanks but are up to their ears in artillery.

I forgot to list any of my ideas for possible German pieces.  With each piece, I will list what WOTC already makes then what I would like to see FMG make.

    Artillery
    WOTC:  88mm flak
FMG:  75mm PAK 38 or maybe Nebelwerfer ( I know the 75mm is really more of an anti-tank gun then true artillery.  Afraid I’m not up on artillery pieces)

    Mech Infantry
    WOTC:  SdKfz 251
FMG:  SdKfz 250  (I like the 251 but if you want something different, here it is)

    Truck
    WOTC:  Opel Blitz
FMG:  Opel Blitz  (Sorry, I can’t improve on that one)

    Tank
    WOTC:  Panther
FMG #1:  Panzer III (already decided on YAY)
    FMG #2:  Hummel

    Fighter
    WOTC:  Me109
    FMG:  Fw190

    Tac Bomber
    WOTC:  Ju 87 Stuka
    FMG:  Me 110

    Strategic Bomber
    WOTC:  Ju 88
    FMG:  He 111

    Aircraft Carrier
    WOTC:  Graf Zepplin
FMG:  Graf Zepplin (The Germans didn’t HAVE another Aircraft Carrier)

    Battleship
WOTC:  Bismarck (This is what I prefer but in the interest of a different choice)
    FMG:  Scharnhorst

    Cruiser
    WOTC:  ???
    FMG:  Admiral Hipper class

    Destroyer
    WOTC:  Friedrich Eckholt class
FMG:  1936-Type (Z20 Karl Galster, Z18 Hans Ludemann are two from my War at Sea set)

    Submarine
    WOTC:  Type VII
FMG:  Type IX (These were larger, ocean going subs but there were fewer of them)

    Transport
    WOTC:  Danzig class
    FMG:  Dithmarschen class

Well, that’s all I got for now.  Like 'em?  Hate 'em?  I’m curious to find out.

If FMG tries to slice and dice too much, there is too much work involved.

I can appreciate that however I can not afford to spend $40 per country?

If they package individually then they can offer lower prices which will attract more buyers, therefore in theory selling more product.
